Here is the blurb from the back of the video case:
"A woman of substantial talent, Julia Fordham has charmed audiences all over the world with her very personal style of songwriting and the richest voice this side of heaven. `Porcelain' portrays Julia at her best -- in concert. Filmed towards the end of 1989 throughout the U.K., Julia performs a distinguished selection of songs from her two albums, `Julia Fordham' and `Porcelain'. Here are the jazz tones of `Genius', the sultry `Only For You', the hit singles `Happy Ever After' and `Lock And Key' and the uptown `Manhattan Skyline'. The lush musical textures are complemented by visual disolves into sepia tones and, intercut with the action, Julia talks about her songwriting technique."

"Comfort of Strangers," 1988 Julia is wearing a gold-sequinned dress and HUGE jewelled rings on her fingers. Paula Greif directed this one too, I think. CoS, and "Happy Ever After," are similar in that they express their main ideas with color. "Happy Ever After," 1988 Julia is wearing white, her backup singers are wearing white, and the entire video set is in white. Paula Greif, the director of this video, suggested this all-white setup would be more subtle, and make more of an impression, than Julia's idea of going down to South Africa and getting some "really obvious shots" of what apartheid was really like. "Manhattan Skyline," 1990 Shots of Julia with a Mystery Man are interspersed with shots of a plane taking off. The video is in black and white. "Lock and Key," 1990 Sophie Muller directed this one. This is the one where Julia's wearing that red coat from the cover of Porcelain, and swaying in a field of sunflowers. Jules says the field in the south of France where the video was shot was "infested with bumblebees!" "Porcelain: Live" (See the Live Material section.) "(Love Moves in) Mysterious Ways," 1991 No information available. :-( "I Can't Help Myself," 1994 No information available. :-( "Hope, Prayer and Time," 1994 No information available. :-( Does anyone else out there have any info on any of the last three videos? Also, if anyone has any information on any song videos not listed here, please post it to the list!
Many thanks to everyone who's helped with the discography: Marisa Wood, Steve Fagg, Philip Sainty, Kristi Skeens, Angela Garry, and Chris Hill. (And anyone I've left out!)
Here's some details of differences between the vinyl and CD versions:
CD track time: 5 mins 16 seconds
LP track time: 3 mins 52 secondsPlus a couple of artists who feature elsewhere in the album (both CD and LP versions) chop and change between the two versions of the song (i.e. one person plays guitar on one version, a different person plays on the other version.
The CD version is (in the words of my partner) "far more funked up" than the LP version - which is far quieter, without the deep 'de-der, der-der' guitar which runs throughout the CD song.
-- Angela Garry
"I thought it was you" has been issued on two different occasions, in different formats - the original song was released with the same cover as the "Swept" album cover (i.e. Julia standing bent forward, with hand on hat on head, red background, black and gold suit). This was issued in a double pack CD, in which one of the CDs is a picture disc - a facial close-up - the final pic from the CD booklet issued with the "Swept" album.
The song was then re-vamped at some point and is a very different version of the song - this is the version that appears on the album "Swept". I suspect this was because the original version didn't sell very well, and once "(Love moves in) mysterious ways" made Julia's name a bit more well-known it was decided to re-issue a version of "I thought...", and increase her record sales. (That could be me being a bit too cynical though!) The second issue of the song has a cover pic of Julia in red vest-dress - and the double CDs were picture CD's with other pics of her in the dress.

This version is a piano/vocal version, more lounge singer style, like the LMIMW piano/vocal version.
This one has synthesizers adding rhythm. Both versions are different from Swept's.
The discs come together in a cardboard package, with Julia wearing a red dress against a black background.
-- Chris Hill
This piano/vocal version appears on both "Different Time, Different Place" [YRCDX 111], and "I Thought It Was You" [YRCDG 90].
