Show 58. "Happy Anniversary,
Mister Masters!"
WED. June 13,1998 @ Nita's Hideaway
SONGS:
Solar System*/WILLIAM SHATNER 'S SPLEEN"
Synopsis: Vic deatils the ficticious history of the Cabaret Revoltaire , from its humble beginnings as Serene Dominic's All-Star Karaoke Jam, through Serene's drug addiction and eventual removal as host. This show incorporates quite a few made-up themes-- neither Vic nor Serene has ever performed an ABBA tribute show or a disastrous salute to William Shatner. But then again shows like "The Salute to the Human Eye" and "Too Hot For TV" were actually for real! Russ Walton guested as the agonized Captain Kirk, lypsyncing to Bill's tone poem, "Spleen" from The Transformed Man. Bonnie and Miriam reprise their ABBA roles as blonde and brunette. Lisa Haslbauer performs as Madame Ruth the gypsy puppet on "Love Potion" but New Darin's Soy Bomb antics steal the show with the ladie's in the audience. Message on his chest- Cop Bomb! Women in the audience throw bras at Vic during "Act Like You're My Baby".
VIC's Original Playbill Comments: "This show marks our one year anniversary as Vic Masters' Cabaret Revoltaire. It contains highlights of the past 12 months but we also threw in some low points in the interest of equal time. Hope you enjoy all of it. I'd like to thank my predecessor, the late Serene Dominic, whose All-Star Karaoke Jams were the forerunner of the Cabaret Revoltaire. Maybe someday someone will appreciate the hard work that cat did for the sake of entertainment in this fickle ol' town. Thanks all the guests I've had the past year-Shane, Bonnie, Adrian, Miriam, Leslie, New Darin, Ralph, Lisa, Tom, Les Payne Product, Andrew, Kirsten, Matt & Windigo, Russ, Pat & Lindsay, Brett, Lydia, Danny, Jim Miles, Power Pop Pat, the Beat Angels, Veronica, Danielle, Aaron, Godfrey, Gina, Scott and all the clubs that have given our humble pageant a home, to Jamal & Jim for giving me the best sound anywhere and especially I'd like to thank Mrs. Vic Masters and Vic Jr. for their love and support and I can't forget the best band in the world Frank, Jim and Charles for providing most of the instrumental muscle you hear every show. Thanks to St. Vincent de Paul for providing most of the records we've used. And of course, my thanks go out to you, gentle spectators, for taking a little piece of me into your hearts. I'm grateful beyond words. Many be your joys. May you live to be a hundred and may the last voice you hear be Vic Masters."
