GREAT MELODY YEARS 1968-72 THE LONGINES SYMPHONETTE SOCIETY
(Longine Symphonette Recording Society)

released 1972

Other noteworthy cuts: Close to You (great stripper music),
Horse With No Name, Draggin The Line, Its Too Late, The Way of Love,
Oye Como Va, Daughter of Darkness, The Wonder of You,
Oh Girl (left channel only, right contains annoying saxophone)
Doesn't Somebody Want To be Wanted, Make It With You, Heart of Gold,
Me and My Arrow, Puppy Love, Hey There Lonely Girl

I don't know what kind of society The Longines Symphonette was planning on, but it is clearly to blame for the amount of cheesy covers that turn up in Vic Masters' shows. Many people would take exception at the title of this 7 record set just by scanning the song selection. In fact some of the worst songs ever committed to wax can be found within this seven year time warp. No wonder Vic plundered this set so fervently for his Have a Nice Nite or Did The Seventies Suck? show. Unfortunately, vocal and chorus performances render half this collection for The Lively One's heinous purposes but where else are you gonna find an instrumental of Tom Jones' mental Daughter of Darkness?

"YOU GO TO MY HEAD"
