THE WEBSITE
This website came about as an experiment when I first discovered the internet in the days of the 486! The idea to compile a comprehensive list of Maltese bands/artists had long been on my mind, and other ways to develop it are still dwelling somewhere inside my head! The arrival of the world wide web (and free hosting thanks to people like Yahoo and Geocities) made the task more interesting for me, and of course, the absence of such a list on the web was all the more encouraging for me to fill the gap! Here, a big thumbs up is in order to other sites that strive towards the same goal!
THE NAME
The name Lib66 (for all those who have asked in the past) was inspired by a nick that one of my best mates and I use on the phone (need I explain further?), plus the magical number 66, which as the English FA would have it, was a very good year, since England won the World Cup (like I care!). For myself in particular, it was even better, as that was the year I was born! An obvious big thumbs up goes to my parents at this point...
THE AIM
The sole aim of this website is to provide a stepping stone for all who surf in to discover Maltese music, which, I am sorry to say, is severely underappreciated and certainly underexposed. For all those wondering why I also listed bands like Texas, Martin Grech and Krokus, it is because the presence of a Maltese connection to foreign bands (especially established ones!) may draw foreign internet users/music fans to seek out what our local scene offers...which is why I have also included a CD Gallery! Smart, mhux hekk jew?!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the website.....
