LINOLEUM F.A.Q.
Who are Linoleum?
Carolyn Finch - guitar, vocals
Paul Jones - guitar
Emma Tornero - bass
Dave Nice - drums
How did they form?
Linoleum formed from Carolyn and Paul, who had
known each other since 1991. They had played together and written some
songs.. in 1995, the lineup was completed with the recruitment of Emma
on bass after Dave joined the band earlier.
Why are there two different
versions of Dissent?
I think it is because the "Smear" single
was never released overseas, so it seemed a good idea to put it on the
overseas version. Which leaves owners of the foreign copy with an annoying
dilemma: Should you buy the UK version to get "Ways To Escape"? I
don't know, because I haven't heard it.
What is Lino Vinyl?
Lino Vinyl is Linoleum's label. They
started it when they put out their vinyl-only debut single, Twisted/Dissent. 1000
copies were made by the band in home-made sleeved made out of linoleum.
Continuing the tradition, Smear, On A Tuesday and the Dissent LP can be
bought on vinyl in sleeves made of linoleum.
What videos have they done?
On A Tuesday and Marquis. I've only seen
the On A Tuesday video.. but it's fantastic. Stay posted, a movie
file is on the way!
Why are there only lyrics to
three songs on the album?
Again, I'm not entirely sure. My best guess
is that because On A Tuesday and Marquis are singles, and have lyrics
on the album, that Beds (the other track with lyrics listed) must be the
next single.. maybe the band thinks people only listen to singles on albums..
not so!
Who have Linoleum toured with?
They've played festivals, but have toured bigger
bands such as Placebo, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and Sneaker Pimps.
