John Lennon, his songs are creative, interesting, and carry deep meaning. The most obvious change starts from "Tomorrow Never knows", then "Strawberry Field Forever". Some people think that his wife Yoko changes him. I agree, but I think not such strongly. From album "Help", not just John, the Beatles started to write about things that happen arround them. Paul's "Yesterday", John's "You've got to hide your love away", changes had happened before John met Yoko.
John go to Rock way, Paul go to Pop way, That's the real reason why Beatles came to the end. In 1969, Paul left the band. John started his solo years, till 1980, his tragic death. He came out as ex-beatles, angry musician. He put political factors into his song. Album"Some times in New York", although later he said that it's no good. "Instant karma", "Power to the people" express his feeling about the people. "Working class hero", "God" cliam that he is just a normal person. John was active in searching peace, he did several songs such as "Give peace a chance". He had joined many demostrations for against war. In 1975, he promised Elton John that if his song "Whatever gets you thru the night" become No.1 hit. Then he will appear on Elton John's concert. Eventually, the song did it! So john appeared in the Madison Centre Square Elton John concert. Sung "Whatever gets you thru the night", "I saw her standing there", and "Lucy in the sky with diamond". That brought a wild reaction of crowded capacity. That's the last public preformance in his life.
His beatles song "You've got to hide your love away", "Come together", "In my life", "Nowhere man", "I am the Walrus", solo song "Imagine", "Watching the wheels", "Instant Karma" are my all-time favourites. After the release of album "Rock and roll", he retired for 5 years! Then released the last album "Double Fantasy" in 1980, tragically assassinated by Mark David Clapman in front of Dakota Building.
That page is dedicated to John. You are Rock and Roll star, live forever!!
