"Who's your favorite Bee Gee, Terri?" That question seems to be one of the first that I get asked, like probably most everyone does. But my reply isn't as easy as for some, because my heart is equally captured by Robin and Maurice. Unlike many fans, I see Rob and Mo as two sides to the same coin. Physically, they both are slighter than big brother Barry. They each are sensitive, emotional creatures, though they handle that in public differently. Robin tends to shy away, protecting himself, while Maurice uses his sense of humor to try to win over everyone, both of them thus hiding their feelings. Both of them have wicked, raunchy senses of humor (which I adore them for), but then again, they express them differently. Mo is master of the one-liner, rapid-fire and filled with innuendo, often sexual in nature, while Rob often sits back, letting Mo get to someone, waiting for the perfect time to drop his devastating comeback (usually when it's least expected). Both love having fun, and delight in letting the little boy inside out to play, seeming to take particular joy in teaming up to "get" Barry. Both are very intelligent and curious, though again, each expresses this in his own way. And I don't think I have to mention that they are both enormously talented and absolutely gorgeous...
While I'm not a believer in astrology, I too am a Capricorn like
Rob and Mo, and I see a lot of things in them that I recognize from
from my own life. I also am close to their age, so we grew up in
similar times. Maybe these are the reasons that I see the similarities
which bind Robin and Maurice as twins, while appreciating each of
them for the gloriously different ways in which they express these
traits. So whether it's Robin winning us with his too-rare but
wonderful smile, or it's Maurice, who is flat out "too sexy for his
hat" (my eternal gratitude to MINight Owl for linking that phrase
from Right Said Fred to Mo!), I'll be there for them both!
