A Very Special Performance |
On January 12, 1991, Steve Marriott performed at a pub in Putney, England called the Half Moon. Sadly, this was to be his last live performance in the UK. Steve died in a fire at his house on April 20, 1991. At the time of his tragic death, Steve had been working with Peter Frampton once again after many years apart since their days as the founders of Humble Pie. |

At the end of Steve's show at the Half Moon, Peter walked out on stage totally unannounced and started to jam with Steve's band on an old R&B number called "This Old Fool." It took a couple of minutes for the audience to realize it was Peter, and then, of course, the place went totally nuts! Steve introduced Peter and then went right into a 10-minute version of "Natural Born Woman." |

The few songs to come out of this wonderful collaberation of two extremely talented musicians can be found on "Shine On - A Collection" ("The Bigger They Come" & "I Won't Let You Down") released in 1992, and on Peter Frampton ("Out of the Blue") released in 1994. Peter and Steve were in the process of forming another band and securing a recording deal - but it was not to be. |

All of the photos on this page were taken by a British chap named Ian who was actually there (lucky him!) and has recounted the evening's events to me. To quote Ian, "It was clear that Peter and Steve were having so much fun that they simply did not want to stop." How sad that we'll never have the pleasure of hearing the two of them together again. |
