CONRAD ISADORE info

The first credit I've been able to trace about
him is a band called One, in 1969:
They released an album, One, before
splitting.
Conrad Isadore played sessions for Manfred Mann
Chapter Three band. They started recording their 2nd album, Manfred
Mann Chapter Three Volume Two, but their drummer, Craig
Collinge, left them during the sessions. The lineup of the band featured:
Mike Hugg (vocals, keyboards), Manfred Mann (keyboards), Steve
York (bass) and Bernie Living (sax,
flute). They used two great session drummers, Conrad Isidore and Andrew
McCulloch. The horn players on it are: Sonny Corbett, Dave Coxhill, Dave
Brooks (sax), Clive Stevens (sax), Harold Beckett (trumpet). Also appearing
Jerry Field on violin. The music in the album is very dense, with fantastic
moments.
When the band was to start an American tour in
1970, Conrad Isadore was asked to join as a full time member:
Mike Hugg (vocals, keyboards)
Manfred Mann (keyboards)
Steve
York (bass)
Conrad Isidore (drums)
+
Sonny Corbett (trumpet)
Carl Griffith (flute)
Dave Coxhill (sax)
Clive Stevens (sax)
Gerald Drewett (trombone)
For their next concerts in England, they augmented
the lineup with a fantastic section of vocalists.

Conrad Isidore (drums)
+
Sonny Corbett (trumpet)
Carl Griffith (flute)
Dave Coxhill (sax)
Clive Stevens (sax)
Gerald Drewett (trombone)
+
Linda Lewis (vocals)
Liza Strike (vocals)
They started recording a 3rd album with help from
session drummer Chris Slade, but poor sales and disappointment led Manfred
Mann to finally split the band, sending the album to a shelf, where it
still remains. This was around December 1970.
In January 1972, he joins Chris Stainton Band.
It's not possible to trace the multiple lineup changes, so here's the complete
list of musicians:
Chris Stainton (keyboards,
vocals)
Neil Hubbard (guitar)
Glenn Campbell (guitar)
Alan Spenner (bass)
Bobby Keys (sax)
Fred Sherbo (sax)
Jim Price (trumpet)
Rick Alphonso (trumpet)
Conrad Isadore (drums)
Jim Keltner (drums)
Jimmy Karstein (drums)
Alan White (drums)
Felix Falcon (percussion)
+ backing vocalists
After a month, Chris Stainton calls his old boss Joe
Cocker to join the band in February 1972.
Joe Cocker (vocals)
Chris Stainton (keyboards,
vocals)
Neil Hubbard (guitar)
Glenn Campbell (guitar)
Alan Spenner (bass)
Bobby Keys (sax)
Fred Sherbo (sax)
Jim Price (trumpet)
Rick Alphonso (trumpet)
Conrad Isadore (drums)
Jim Keltner (drums)
Jimmy Karstein (drums)
Alan White (drums)
Felix Falcon (percussion)
+ backing vocalists
They released an album, Something to say. They finally
split in February 1973.
Around 1973, Conrad joined the band Hanson:
Junior Hanson (guitar,
vocals)
Clive Chaman (bass)
Jean Roussel (keyboards)
Conrad Isadore (drums)
They released an album with this lineup, Now
hear this. It contains guest appearances by Bobby
Tench, Rebop and Chris Wood.
In August 1974, Bobby Tench forms his own band,
Hummingbird. The initial lineup was:
-
Bob
Tench (guitar,vocals)
-
Bernie Holland (guitar)
-
Clive Chaman (bass)
-
Max Middleton (keyboards)
-
Conrad Isidore (drums)
Their first album, Hummingbird, contained
guest appearance by Linda Lewis on vocals. Conrad was later replaced by
Bernard Purdie.
And then, I have a huge gap, as I haven't heard
from Conrad Isidore in 25 years! Help, please!
Currently, he's playing in Vince Charles &
Friends band:
-
Vince Charles (steel drums)
-
Wendy Harrison (steel drums)
-
Clarence Robinson (bass)

J.R. Crawford (keyboards)
-
Conrad Isidore (drums)
