Jimmy Page
This was Jimmy Page's first solo album, after The
Firm. It features great musicians: Chris Farlowe (vocals), John Miles (vocals),
Robert Plant (vocals), Tony Franklin (bass on 1 track, 'Wasting my time'),
Felix Krish (bass), Durban Laverde (bass),
Jason Bonham (drums), and the magnificent Barriemore Barlow (drums). Originally,
Tony played in many more tracks, but they were re-worked by Durban Laverde.

After having left Roy Harper band, Tony still played
in more albums by Roy.
The album Descendants of Smith was
later released under a new title, Garden of uranium. Featuring
Nick Harper (guitar), Tony Franklin (bass), Nik Green (keyboards), Kevin
McAlea (keyboards), Stuart Elliott (drums), Mark Ramsden and Jacqui Turner.
Burn the world is a strange album,
featuring the same song in two different (and long) versions, one recorded
in the studio (with David Gilmour, Tony Franklin, Kevin McAlea, Paddy Bush
and Preston Heyman), and another version recorded live.

Gilmour (guitar), Kate Bush (vocals), Terry Cooke (vocals), Steve Broughton
(guitar, keyboards), Nick Harper (guitar), Mark Feltham (harmonica), and
Tony Franklin (bass).

Bug alley (Oct 96, Surfdog)
The endless summer II is a soundtrack
for the sequel of that movie. Also featuring Gregg Bissonette on drums.
It features a rendition of an old War song, 'Low rider'.
Bug alley features Gary Hoey, Tony
Williams and drummer Gregg Bissonette. Tony co-writes a song with a funny
title, 'Moustache muchacho'. Also including a rendition of my much-loved
Peter Green, 'Black magic
woman', as well as a Dylan cover.

Talented singer, as well as friend of Tony.
Now in a minute is her first album.
After the album was released, Tony also toured with her, as we can read
in the bio page.

Bureau)
An all-star album fronted by Glenn Hughes. The band
for the album is:

Erickson, Darren Housholder, Paul Pesco, Mick Mars. There is great playing
here, and Tony really shines in songs such as 'I'm the man' and
'You don't have to save me anymore'. He also cowrites the song 'Hey
buddy (you got me wrong)'. Tony plays bass in 7 songs, while the other
ones are played by Glenn Hughes himself.
Driver
This was a band from New Zealand, commanded by Steve
Driver. The album contains a song written by Tony ('Eye to eye').

A great virtuoso (both playing guitar and keyboards).

Evolution features Tony Franklin
(bass) and the terrific Mike Terrana (drums). Funnily, it includes two
songs after Spanish places ('Seville' and 'Asturias').

They're a new-age duo. This album features Tony, but
playing upright bass! The album features a rendition of The Doors' 'Light
my fire'.
Marty Friedman

He's also a guitar virtuoso, from the bands Cacophony
and Megadeth.
Minetaka Higuchi with Dream Castle
Minetaka Higuchi was the drummer in Japanese band
Loudness. This album features some heavy guests: Ronnie James Dio (vocals,
along with his musicians Tracy G. on guitar and Jeff Pilson on bass), Don
Dokken (vocals), Richie Kotzen (guitar), Steve Vai (guitar, bass), Ty Tabor
(guitar), Michael Thompson (guitar), Stevie Salas (guitar, vocals), Tony
Franklin (bass), Stanley Clarke (bass), Billy Sheehan (bass), T.M. Stevens
(bass), John Schreiner (keyboards), Paulinho DaCosta (percussion), Terry
Bozzio (drums on 1 track).
I think the album must be Japanese-only, sadly.

The day I went mad is a superb album, where Graham
is surrounded by great musicians: Vivian Campbell (guitar), Mario Parga

Kulick (here, playing bass), Michael Alemania (keyboards), Kevin Valentine
(drums).

Beck is worshipped by lots of guitarists, as we can notice here. Guitar

As you can guess, this album is a tribute to the band

Cozy Powell forever (Sep 98, Electric Angel) (Japan
only)
Cozy Powell forever is a tribute album
projected by Minetaka Higuchi (drummer in Loudness) to the great Cozy
Powell, and it includes Rei Atsumi (keyboardist in Vow Wow) on most
tracks, as well as Carmine Appice and Tony Franklin on a couple of songs
(the renditions of 'Theme One' and 'Armed and ready'). Also
featuring Akira Takasaki (Minetaka's mate in Loudness). Unfortunately,
it was only released in Japan.
