Welcome to Maasai Mountain Magic. We are a Maasai mountain trekking and safari tour operator based in Arusha, Tanzania. Our mountain treks and safaris are meant for the adventure traveler who expects good quality service at a fair price. We are minimal impact environmental warriors; we endeavour not to leave a trace after our comings and goings. We specialize in guiding travelers up Kilimanjaro, Mt. Meru and Oldonyo LeNgai (The Mountain of God). We also organize adventure camping safaris to the Arusha, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Serengeti National Parks as well as the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

Hello, my name is Gideon Ole Makara. I am of the Maasai tribe and of Tanzanian nationality. For 16 years now I have been guiding people up the mountains of Tanzania, Kilimanjaro the highest at 5,896 metres, Mt. Meru the second highest at 4,566 metres and Oldonyo LeNgai at 2,878 metres. I also know the Northern Tanzanian wildlife parks very well. I would be very happy to share the knowledge and magic with you.

 

Hello, my name is Der Hurley and I am of the Celtic tribe. I am a U.S. Certified Fraud Examiner based in Mexico. I have been to the summit of Kilimanjaro and traveled the parks of Tanzania with Emmanuel and Gideon. We run the Maasai Mountain Magic sales office out of Mexico City.

 

Hello, my name is Brian Hurley. I am Mexican-Irish by tribe and I manage the website. I met Emmanuel and Gideon in Tanzania as organizers of our trek to the summit of the Great Kilimanjaro. It was such a tremendous experience. The landscapes were awesome, going through the forests at times I felt like I was in a fantasy book like the Hobbit. Believe me it's worth having them by your side when your going up Kili. Some of the guides and porters know other languages besides English and Swahili, the cooking is delicious and they are really cool people in general!
