When you think of 3 piece bands from |
|
Seattle, I'm sure I can guess who it is |
that pops in your head. BUT, quality |
music didn't die with Kurt Cobain, even |
though I'm sure some people will argue |
with me on that. |
|
|
The Bali Girls are infact a 3 piece band |
from Seattle, I didn't just bring all of |
that up for nothing. And what a band |
this is. I was lucky enough to catch |
them live at the last show for a local |
club here, the RKCNDY (R.I.P.) and I |
had no idea what to expect. What did I |
find? |
|
|
|
|
ABUSIVE!! I felt so sorry for Randall Payne's
|
drum set. On the newest Bali Girls cd, A
|
Housewife's High,
they simply address him as |
Mr. Payne, change the spelling a little bit
and |
there is no better way to describe this drummer.
|
The music is Dark, very dark, but instead of
|
describing it as Gothic, I'm going to stick
with |
Dark Metal. The guitar work and bass lines
are so |
amazing. I really can't say enough good things
|
about this bands sound. The guitar is very
umm, |
dreamy maybe? A lot of feedback and quite a |
few other sounds that makes me want to thank the dinosaurs for dieng and |
giving us the fossil fuels to produce the electricity to run the amps that |
make electric guitars possible. The Bass is just heavy and flows so |
well with the drums. The drums... Mr. Payne is one of the most awesome |
drummers I've had the pleasure of hearing. I almost want to call |
his drums tribal sounding, but they are just inventive. Click the |
picture on the right to hear a sound sample from one of their songs off
A Housewifes High which is the bands 2nd cd. The first |
is Self Titled, and is quite a piece of work as well. |
