Wien 06. 01. 2002
Our trip started on January 6 at about 12:30 o'clock when we (me, my two BEST friends Renka + Petty and my father as a driver) left for Wien. At 15 o'clock we saw the first buildings of Austrian capital. We were really happy to be there so quickly. But the worst came then. We couldn't find the hall. We had two maps but we just couldn't find it. We were desperate. But then... after about an hour we came to Guglgasse the street where Gasometer stayed. We were very surprised because there was no hall there was only a shopping center. But then we saw about two hundred people staying in front of the highest building, so we thought we were on the right place. We joined them and waited for opening the door. Then my father found a second door to the "hall" which was inside of the building, so we went there. There were only about 50 people. At 18:30 security opened the door. We ran into the hall and we were surprised again (the day was whole surprising:)) because there were just few people. So we stuck in the second line on the right of the stage. I put the cap on my head (it was a cap for the Kellys white cap with pink ears, red nose and black eyes made of buttons) and then a woman from ORF television came to me and wanted to ask me about something. But I'm not good at German so I couldn't answer:(. At 19:27 (someone said it we didn't have watch) the lights turned off and Kellys came. Clothes haven't changed a lot but: Angelo two colored jeans (in a cowboy-style) and brown T-shirt; Maite black T-shirt with a flower, long blue skirt; Paddy blue T-shirt with white-blue-red sleeves, white jeans; Joey checked suit with blue shirt; Jimmy blue jeans with black shirt; Patricia black blouse and long golden skirt. First song was Alle Kinder brauchen Freunde followed by I feel love in which Paddy and Angelo sang Falling in love (I don't know the real name of the song) and Paddy sang No woman no cry. Then Maite came and said: "We're going to sing you 12 new songs tonight and they'll be on our new album which will be released end of March/beginning of April." And then she sang a beautiful new song Audrey. Kellys had a very good mood. Maybe it was because of a fantastic atmosphere in the hall fans weren't screaming, they were singing with Kellys. In some whiles I felt like in the "street life time". Only Joey was quite sad (and angry?)... but in the end he was laughing. Then came Patricia with her new song No one but you during this one Paddy had a flute-solo; Angelo with wonderful song New morals (Human race), Joey and his Special girl (he was singing really loud:)). Then came Patricia and Maite to the microphone and they started singing new "beginning" of Every baby (Birdies on my window). It was really beautiful. The rest of the song sang Maite alone and in the end came Pat to her and sang Birdies on my window together again. All the older songs have a "new version" all the older songs sound much better (Kellys are better and better every year I don't know how they do it:)). Jimmy came and said it was hard for him to sing this song and started singing a new song So many troubles. Of course, he wanted us to sing with him, first it was terrible but in the end it was much better:). The following song San Jose y el nino Jesus (Spanish Christmas song) was sung by Paddy, Jimmy and Maite. Then came Joey with his traditional songs Another world and Why why why. Suddenly all the Kellys disappeared and only Maite stayed (with Paddy sitting next to his microphone and playing the guitar) and sang beautiful song about angel (Guardian angel???) people were enthusiastic. Kellys came back and Pat with Jimmy sang Please don't go. Then came Patrick and wanted us to repeat what he sang and then started singing Fell in love with an alien, followed by Jimmy's new song What's a matter you people. Patricia sang a new song Love, music and sun. In this song Jimmy appeared on the stage with some people from Kelly crew with Santa Claus caps on their heads and they made a train on the stage but then they came down to the audience. I was really worried about Jimmy, but people surprised me they didn't want to touch him, they just joined the train:). Then came Joey and sang a new song True love. After this song Maite said: "When I was in Vienna last time, I met a boy... and he's here tonight." He came to the stage and danced with Maite (it took them about 30 seconds to find how they should put their hands:)) and Kellys played waltz (Paddy was singing once he made a funny mistake nobody's perfect). And when they stopped dancing, Maite started singing So many things. In the middle of the song Maite wanted us to turn to the side and hug the person next to us (but no one understood it we did something different and Maite laughed:). Patricia sang Winnie the Pooh and got a beautiful quilt with Pooh for Alex from a fan. She was absolutely happy and then she sang La le lu a German song for babies:). All the Kellys disappeared again and only Angelo stayed... he sang Hey babe and then his Drum solo started. He was drumming passionately that he broke (???) one drum ("Es tut mir leid, aber meine Trommel ist kaputt gegangen.") I don't know what exactly happened, but during the next song (Joey's The wolf) a man from the Kelly crew was lying under Angelo's legs and repaired the drum (I thought that microphone fell down:).
Jimmy went on with Lord can you hear my prayer he
wanted us to sing with him. Because only few people knew the song, the beginning wasn't
very good. Jimmy wanted us to try it again and said "Bitte bitte bitte, ich bitte
euch". In the end it sounded really good I saw Paddy, he was really surprised
that something what was really terrible in the beginning sounds great now:). Jimmy said
"Thank you, you are my favourite" and Paddy came to sing his typical One more
freaking dollar. He wanted us to repeat his "sounds" (sometimes they were
really funny I don't know where he takes them from:)). And my friend Petty decided to
throw the cap now (Patrick was going really close to us). So I threw it to the stage
but he turned round and didn't see it (I know he saw me throwing it, maybe because of it
he turned round:)). Petty was really furious (who wouldn't be?).
Of course he
sang We will rock you and he was going to us again (he wasn't looking at the
"floor"), he was jumping like a fool and suddenly all the people couldn't stop
laughing Paddy slipped on our cap and fell (poor Paddy, he hit his ass and back). He
wanted to "hide" this embarrassing situation and he turned a somersault. Then he
stood up, turned to the cap and put it on his head.
The Kellys
went on with Take my hand sung by Maite and Paddy they both came down and
started shaking hands with fans. They both took my and Petty's hand:) Only our dear Renka
took only Maite's hand because Paddy waved at someone while he was close to her:(.
Then Paddy
sang Shine all over for Joey, Jimmy and Maite; "our guests and our friends
Mathias and Christian" (he had a Birthday:) and "our guest Angelo
Kelly" hahaha; then for Patricia and twice for Paddy, but Maite was
"angry" and came to him and poured whole bottle of water on him (what a wastage!
I was really thirsty:)); then he continued for Kathy, Johnny and Barby; for Papa Kelly,
Mama Kelly and "kleiner Sean". The following part was dedicated to Luke,
Alexander Joseph and Gabriel and the last one was for us three times for Wien.
Kellys went
away and we were calling "zugabe" for over 2 minutes. Then Paddy came and said:
"Two weeks ago one journalist asked me what's the most beautiful thing in your
life and I answered to be on tour with my brothers and sisters!!!" Big
applause for him, of course... and he started singing Brother brother, followed by
Angelo's and Paddy's I can't help myself. We thought it was the last song... but
suddenly all the Kellys came to the stage again and started singing Should I fall
behind they had the lyrics on the paper (they made some mistakes:))... and it was
the last song of this amazing concert.
Paddy came
to the microphone and said: "Thank you, Vienna. It was super. If you want, you can
buy T-shirts, videos etc." (of course, he must say this:)) and then said: "All
the best in the new year and hope to see you soon we'll surely come to Austria this
year again." Then his typical "kommt gut nach Hause" and it was the last
sentence of the Kellys... last chance to see these wonderful people who give me so much
energy and happiness.
For us three
it was the most beautiful concert. And even if it was over, no one can steal our memories.
This day will always be deep in our memory, deep in our heart.
Thanks to
the Kellys I know the people who I love, thanks to the Kellys my life makes sense. Kellys,
thank you for this beautiful concert (and also for all my 7 concerts before, esp. for
Dresden my first concert with my best friend Renka), for all your songs and love, for
being here for us all these years...
