In a Bronx Times Reporter article headlined Catspaw Saves Local Rock, Fish Altieri describes Catspaw as a young local band not poisoned or directly affected by 80s pomp or 90s power cynics... Catspaw just about saved local rock with their non-conforming nature and style... the vocals were lyrically clear. The lead guitar work was very ambitious, as were the bass lines. In a later article, he calls Catspaw unlike anything else coming out of our world-famous borough. Butch Modern of fAZE3 magazine says Jasmine has an unusual yet classic pop sensibility and a wonderful intuition for melody.
Formed in the summer of '97, Catspaw plays in and around the New York area using their influences of folk-rock/country/classic rock/new wave/ and early baroque to form their own rock style.
