Details here.
As I was saying, Poison has touched me and has helped determine who I’ve become. You don’t believe me. I can see it in your eyes. But it’s true! How? Lemme tell you…
Back in 1988, I got to go to a Poison concert for my birthday. It was my first concert ever. Now, I had *always* had rhythm. I had played piano, violin, recorder, and clarinet and I *knew* that this white girl had rhythm! I had thought about drums, but I really just thought it’d be boring. I mean seriously, look at how rock drumming comes across to the un-trained drummer! *BOOM, CHINK, BOOM, CHINK* ::yaaaawn!:: How boring would that be?!
But then this concert happened to me. More specifically and importantly, Rikki Rockett’s drum solo happened to me. I was completely blown away!!! The word “amazed” doesn’t even begin to cover it! I was inspired. I had to play drums! Eventually, I did get a crappy old set of Rogers drums and took lessons. I got to play with several different groups of people. I even got to play once with a touring artist at the local university! Truly, drumming brought about the best time in my life.
Now that I am a single mother, I don’t get to play very often.
Funny thing about drumming though… It gets into your soul. It becomes part of who you are. So now, though I don’t get to drum very often, I am still a drummer because it’s in me. It’s part of me now. And I give thanks to Rikki Rockett for inspiring me.
I also thank Rikki for being so involved and concerned with animal rights. Reading things on his site helped me to make the decision to become a vegetarian, something I had been thinking about for several years. I finally made the veggie plunge in the summer of 1998. YAY!
So, in honor of the wonderousness that IS Rikki, I dedicate this page. Obviously, it is very much a fan page and will continue to be. I’ll have links, pics, and probably some facts about all the members of the band, but it will probably stay my personal feelings about each member of the band, and the band itself. Please email me if you have any suggestions or comments. I really do take constructive criticism well… So don’t hold back!
(There isn't much under these links, but that's only cuz this page is so new...)
