When the song ended the guys stood speechless. I could see small tears in each and everyone of the guys's eyes but they all just swallowed them back. They were blown away by the powerful lyrics and the story of when all goes bad there is still hope in life. It was hard to believe that a 14 year old girl wrote this when it sounded as if someone older and wiser had written it. I took the guitar strap off and around my head. The guys all seemed to pop out of the miny stage they were in.
"That was GREAT!" Zac finally said. Both Tara and I smiled at how they liked the song. Isaac and Taylor both nodded their heads in unison appoving also. Taylor walked to the switchboard again and stopped what ever was running. We all played MMMBop, With You In Your Dreams, Weird (Which we found out was the next single), Speechless, and Thinking of You. Tara and I played a couple other songs and we did our best to add in Cord's parts. The guys seemed to like our music which satisfied me fine. It was already 2:00 p.m. when we had finished. Zac decided to go over to a friends house causing us all to split up into our little groups. Isaac, Tara, Taylor, and I agreed to go roller blading at the Ramp Inn. The Ramp Inn was the best place in Tulsa to skate. They had 3 street courses, 1 rink, 3 verts, and 4 downhills. Practiclly everyone in Tulsa roller bladed so it got alot of use. Being December they only had 1 sreet course open, a rink, 2 verts, and 2 down hills because they were indoor. We all hopped in Ike's jeep and headed downtown. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ "Man, I'm having a hell of a time getting these stupid skates on!" Ike yelled. He had his ankle still wrapped up which made it kinda hard to work with but he never would complain about it hurting. His parents told him to do nothing much while there. It wouldn't matter much anyways because Tara wasn't the best skater either. I mean she isn't bad but she can skate and she can't do the courses or the hills. So they decided to skate around the rink they just put in. They left while Taylor and I finished putting on our skates. We decided to do the vert course first. We both strapped on our helmets and pads. They allowed so many people to do it for so much time. We both decided to go at the same time for 5 minutes. There was barely anyone there because alot of people leave Tulsa for Christmas and visit relatives. There were only around 15 people there and over half of them were on the rink. Two kids were occupying the street course and there were 2 people in line for the other vert. The ding of the bell made the other 2 people get off and when it dinged again Taylor and I could start. I felt Taylor's arm slide around my waist and his mouth move to my ear. "You do realize I'm gonna cream you, right?" I laughed at the thought. I've been skating for over 7 years. "Oh, don't you wish!" I said back to him. "Would you like to put a bet where your mouth is?" He questioned me. Although it would be against my better judgement I decided to anyways. "Alright I bet you a kiss that I'll beat you." Taylor smiled. "You are on!" The bell rang. We both slid down the ramp and up the other. Taylor was very hard competion but I tried my best to keep up with him. The man judging us kept his eye on Taylor then would switch his glance to me. He seemed like a new guy there and not a normal person. I showed Taylor my 360, 540, 900, and my famous Glitz. I made up the Glitz when I was skating in Toledo for a man that was interested in me skating for his team. I did make the team but I was kicked off because I was a girl. I didn't know before I went that the whole team was made up of guys. I like to think they were intimidated by my great skills. The coach still comes and watches me skate every once in a while. The bell rang again. We both went back up the ramp and stopped at the top. We both undid our helmets showing our particially sweating faces and hair a little sweaty. The scores came up. Taylor: 97.9 Ali: 98.0 I looked over to Taylor that had the cutest look of surprise on his face. He couldn't believe a girl beat him. He turned toward me and just stared. "What?" I said thinking maybe something was wrong. "What the hell was that last move you pulled on me?" He was smiling with curiousity. "Well I had to perform at a competition and I wore this sparkily top. And when I did my routine I had spare time so I threw that in. I ended up getting the best score and set the highest record and Quest ever." Quest was just like Ramp Inn but bigger. "They call it the Glitz now and only 2 people can do it. Me and Cordelia." Taylor just couldn't stop smiling. He finally came closer to me and moved his arms around my waist. "Now about our bet." He said just before our lips met. I wrapped my arms around his neck and let his arms roam my back. He slid his tongue in my mouth briefly before pulling away. "You know we are in a public place so I don't want to cause a scene." He said. I smiled and we let go of each other. We both slid down the mini ramp to the bottom but before we could get away the man we thought was running the dinger grabbed our arms. "I so sorry to surprise you like this but I saw your guys' run and it was GREAT!" The man envized the word great. He was a small man maybe in his late 30's and bald. The man wore blue jeans and a T-Shirt. "Well Thanks." I said answering for both Taylor and me. Taylor was busy trying not to get noticed that he was a Hanson. "I also have a quick question or I guess you could say favor to ask of both of you." We both nodded. "You see I'm Garison, the manager of Ramp Inn, and tomorrow we are hosting an invitational. The invitational is for pairs and the team representing us dropped out yesterday. Would you please skate for us?" Taylor and I both looked at each other. "Let us talk it over." I took Taylor's hand and walked to the corner. "Ali, I can't do it. I'll cause a fit if anyone notices it's me." Taylor said just above a whisper. I stood silent for a minute. "We could make you look like someone else. Please! Do it for me?" I pleaded Taylor finally cracked a smile and agreed. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug. "Thank You." I whispered into his ear. We walked back over to the man. "Thank you so much for doing this for the Ramp Inn." He grabbed both our hands. "Let's go get you guys your clothes and gear." We both just smiled and let him pull us along to the main office. Back Home Chapter 14
