Chapter 17

Taylor opened the screen door to the living room of the Hanson household. Ali followed him in. Walker stood up out of his chair and folded his arms. Ali took Taylor's hand for support and he let out a sigh.

"Listen, Da-" Walker held his arm up signaling for Taylor to stop.

"Last Night I saw you two in the treehouse and I realized that there is no use arguing about this. Obviously you to want to be with eachother and who am I to say no." He turned to Ali. "I'm so sorry I didn't approve of you at first but now I realize that you both think the same way. I'm sorry I ever argued with you guys." Taylor stepped forward and embraced his father with a hug. They hugged and mentioned a few sorries and seperated. "Anyways I told Kirsten and David that you had fallen asleep last night here and we would send you home in the morning." He said to Ali. He looked to his watch. "I don't think they'll be up for awhile so your more than welcome to take a shower and i'm sure Taylor has a shirt you can use." Taylor nodded.

"Thanks." Ali said while giving Walker a hug.

"Hey Dad, does mom know about all this?" Taylor questioned.

"No and she won't either." They both smiled happy things were now settled. Taylor took Ali's hand and led her up the stairs. Walker watched the two of them holding hands and going up the steps. Taylor carefully knocked on the door to their room and opened it. Isaac and Zac were both sprawled out on their beds in the boxers only. Ali stood in the doorway while Taylor searched through all of the piles of clothes for something Ali could wear. After several minutes he recovered a t-shirt with the beatles logo on it and a pair of Zac's pajama pants. He handed them to her and she walked into the bathroom across the hall. He watched her disappear into the bathroom and sighed.

"So I heard that dad really dug into ya about Ali and you making out last night." Isaac said coming up behind him. Taylor turned and faced him.

"How did you know?" Taylor asked questionily.

"Tara and I ditched the light show and came home early. We heard your's and dad's fight and I saw Ali run to the treehouse while you were fighting. Then we saw you climb out the bedroom window and go to the treehouse too." Taylor looked back to the bathroom when he heard the shower start. "You want her bad, don't you?" Ike asked him.

"I don't know what to think. I mean last night I wanted her so bad but when dad came home and saw us. It really made me think. I'm only 14 and I already want more? I think I'm way to young yet when I look at her I want to show her how much I love her." Isaac sighed and placed his hand on his shoulder.

"I don't know what to tell ya but to follow what your heart disires but don't hurt anyone while ya do it." Isaac walked past Tay and down the stairs to the kitchen. Taylor stood there soaking in what Isaac had said. His brothere was right. He wouldn't force Ali to do anything until she was ready and older. He walked back into his room only to find Zac still in deep sleep. He went through some piles of clothes laying on the floor and pulled out a black adidas shirt and some baggy jeans. He slipped the mon and quickly ran a brush over his hair and pulled in back into a low ponytail. About 3 minutes before he had done this the water had stopped running. As soon as he was done Ali walked out of the bathroom with the clothes Tay had givin her and her hair was blow dried. She had it pulled back. Taylor leaned against the wall with his hands behind his back. Ali gave him a strange look.

"What do you have behind your back?" She asked sarcasticly. She walked slowly to him. He pulled out the small box he was holding and handed it to her.

"Oh Tay, you didn't have to get me anything." She said while unwrapping it.

"I wanted to. Besides it is Christmas." He told her while creeping up on her. She opened the small box to find two silver rings in it. She gasped! He pulled one ring out and read the inscribtion on it to her.

"It says: Ali + Tay 4 Ever. And the other says: Tay + Ali 4 Ever." Tay took the one that said Tay + Ali 4 ever and placed it on her left ring finger. She had tears welling up in her eyes. She placed the other ring on Taylor's left ring finger and that was when the tears rolled down her cheek.

"I love you, Tay." She said. There was complete serious faces on the both of them. Taylor wrapped his arms around her waist and she put hers around his neck. She laid her head across his chest and they just stood there for awhile until Zac jumped on Tay's back.

"MERRY CHRISTMAS TAY!" Zac yelled while hanging from Tay's neck.

"I can't breathe!" Tay yelled and Zac dropped. He sprinted down the stairs singing Jingle Bells on his way. Ali laughed as Zac tripped on the last step and fell face down on the tiles. Taylor and Ali walked hand in hand down the stairs and went into the garage where the instruments were. Ali jumped on the green drumset .

Taylor walked over to his keyboard and turned it on. I started to play a beat on the drums and Taylor started to sing Madeline. We just played around doing some of the songs from Middle of Nowhere and then we played some songs from Snowed In. We sang the Silent Night Meledoy with the microphones and I think Taylor was recording it but didn't want me to know. By the time we were finished goofing off it was only 8:30. We both sat down on the couch and I laid across it with my head in his lap.

"Ali, would you mind telling me more about yourself? I mean we know each other but not all the details." I turned my head so I was looking up at him with my knees bent towards the sky.

"Well, I was born on a rainy April 1st day in 1983. I have lived in Toledo, Ohio all my life and can't wait to leave there. My cousin Tara and I have been friends forever and so have Cordelia and I. I play alot of sports causing me to be a little bit of a tomboy when it comes to rough play. I'm an only child and have not much family other than my dad still living, my Aunt Kirsten, My Uncle Dan, and my Aunt Debbie but her and I aren't on good speaking terms. Oh yeah and she is also Tara's mom." I smiled and looked at him. "Did I forget anything?" I asked. He nodded no and gave me a little peck. "You don't need to explain yourself to me. I know alot." He laughed.

"It's sometimes scary to think you know everything that has happened to me."

"Well , I don't know everything. I'm not some obsessed fan who listens to only you. I love Aerosmith, The Beatles, The Monkeys, Nirvana, Blink 182, and Mighty Mighty Bosstones. I pretty much like everyone." Just then the door opened up and Ike walked half way down the steps.

"Ali, your uncle just called and said to come over for presents." He said. He jogged back up the remaining steps. I got up and Taylor followed me up the steps. He walked me to the front door.

"I'll bring over your present later tonight at the Christmas Party, okay?" He nodded and gave me a hug. The Christmas Party was when the ENTIRE neighborhood teens got together at the Hanson's and just partied all night. The adults usually went to their own party and no one at either party went home that night. People would just crash at where ever they were and would come home later. I waved goodbye and jogged across the lawn carrying my old clothes and still wearing the t-shirt and pajama pants. I opened the door to see Tara, Aunt Kirsten, and Uncle David all huddled around the small christmas tree with presents sperated into piles.

"C'mon, We are just gettin' started." Tara yelled to me. I kicked off my adidas sneakers and walked over to my pile and took a seat. I had 4 presents in my pile, Tara had 4 also, Aunt Kirsten had 4 (my vase I got her was in the closet for me to pull out), and Uncle David had 6.

"We'll start with the youngest opening one present and then go around with each of us opening one. Then we'll go around again until there are none left." Aunt Kirsten explained. I got to open one present first. I pulled out a gift bag with a tag saying it was from Tara. I pulled out the tissue paper and found the coolest tube dress I have ever seen. I pulled it all the way out examinating it. It was navy blue with flowers and butterflies galore all over it. It was sleeveless with small straps going up the shoulders. It was short like my other dress from the night before but this one had a slit going up the right side of the dress. It was so pretty! I got up and hugged Tara.

"Thank You so much, Tar!" I said squeezing her.

"Your Welcome." She answered. She went next and pulled out the gift from Aunt Kirsten. She slid the wrapping paper off of it and opened the Lazurus box. Inside was an outfit. It was a white long sleeve shirt that was very fancy looking. There was a matching short skirt that was dark green with little navy blue specks all over it. It was very nice looking and I knew she would look smashing in it. She said her thank you obviously happy with what she had gotten. Aunt Kirsten was next. She opened the present from Tara first. Tara had gotten her a gift certifiacte to Lazurus Furniture Outlet. She was quite surprised and thankful. Uncle David opened up my present to him next nd greatly appreciated it since he has wanted it forever. We went around a couple more times and I got from aunt Kirsten and Uncle David three presents. One was some of these really neato drum sticks I have wanted forever, Second was another outfit but this time it was casual. It was a pair of dark tan cargo pants with a matching white long sleeve shirt. Since my outfit was Tan tara got a Navy one from them too. My last present greatly surprised me. It was a plane ticket to come back for Spring Break!

"We really want to see you more offen, Al." Uncle David said to me. I hugged them both.

"Let me go get your present, Aunt Kirsten." I got up and walked over to the closet. I dragged the vase out just enough to see it and she gasped causing me to stop. She ran over to me and hugged and kissed me.

"Ohmigosh! This is so goregous! It must have cost a fortune!" She was looking it over throughly. She gave me another kiss and hug. "Well, why don't we all have some breakfast and then we can get ready for each of our parties." From what I have heard the party was a big thing in Tulsa. Everyone went to the party and pretty much stayed the night. I knew though for me I would have to leave in the morning.
