Chapter 3

"Isaac, Do you know where Taylor went?" Diane asked her son. She was getting kind of worried since she told him to be home almost 20 minutes ago. Kirsten and David were over and showing the merchaindise to Isaac and Zac but Taylor had to be here. They all sat around the kitchen table glancing at shirts, hats, keychains, stickers, calenders, and posters to sell. Mackie, Ave, and Jessica were all seated around the T.V. watching some Nickeloedeon show they loved. Ali and Taylor ran through the front door out of breath. Their faces were red and sweaty. "Taylor, you're late." His mother informed him. He took his hands off his knees and walked over to her.

"I'm sorry mom, we lost track of time." Diane smiled at Ali and introduced the family she had not yet met.

"Nice to meet you all." She said very politly. Walker returned the smile and went back to work with David. Ali stood by the door a minute before Taylor walked up to her.

"We'll be awhile so if you want to go downstairs to the basement and do whatever, you can?" Al smiled at him.

"Okay. Just tell me when your done." She walked out of sight and downstairs to the basement Taylor had pointed out. He stood where he was for a minute and then retreated back to the kitchen to get a move on the tour stuff.

~2 hours later~

They finally finished the merchaindise stuff. They all agreed on the shirts, calendars, posters, keychains, and hats to use. Diane, Walker, and all the little ones decided to go out to DZ for lunch while the boys stayed behind. Ali was still in the basement and Kirsten and David left to go home. Ike, Tay, and Zac all walked down the steps to the basement. When they opened the door Ali was seated behind the drumset playing along with Look At You. She had obviously figured out the CD player and knew the drum part. She turned her head towards them and smiled in satisfaction. Taylor ran to his keyboard and flipped it on. He started to play along with the song and Isaac did too. Zac turned off the CD player so you could just hear them. Ali had a nice voice and was singing the part rather well. Once the song was over Zac looked at her.

"How did you know my drum part?" He asked making the weirdest face.

"Well, Let me think." She said scratching her chin. "Could it be that my uncle manages you guys and I have easy access to the drum part." Ike laughed to himself. Ali stood up and let Zac sit at the drums. "Play MMMBop." She told them. As they started the song she grabbed Ike's Acustic guitar and played along again. Isaac stared in astonishment. He did not know she could play guitar too but Taylor found that out earlier. The song quickly ended.

"Can you play keyboard too?" Zac asked. She knew drums and guitar, why not keyboard as well.

"I can play but not that well." Zac got up off his drums and jumped onto the couch. Ali strummed the guitar to check for if it was out of tune but it wasn't. She played and sang a song none of them had ever heard of before. They just watched and stared. When she was done they looked rather confused.

"What was that?" Taylor asked. He liked the song but had no clue if he had heard it before.

"It's just a song I wrote a while ago. I play it with Tara and Cordelia every year at the local festivals in town."

"You play in a band?" All three of them asked in unison.

"We don't really practice like a band. One day we were just fooling around out in Tara's backyard and this guy asked us to play at St. Pats Church Festival. We agreed and then lots of people asked us to play there church festivals. We get together every once and a while and write new songs. Winter is our guess you could say slow season." Taylor managed to sit in a chair and Isaac took up what Zac was not already laying on by the couch.

"Do you guys have a name?" Zac asked thinking stupid question of course they have a name.

"We just go by Wishful Thinking." She looked as if it wasn't that big of a deal to her. As if it was just normal. But the guys thought it was really cool. You don't hear about to many real young bands anymore.

"How old is everyone?" Isaac questioned.

"Boy, lots of questions huh? Well, Tara is my older cousin and she just turned 17. She also plays keyboard is WT. Cordelia is 14 just like me but she plays the drums in WT. I play lead guitar and share singing with Tara. Tara is our official driver."

"Sounds Cool. What do you guys want to do?" Zac was obviously getting energy sprees because he was jumping around on the couch making Ike get even madder by the second.

"Well, I'm gonna go home and take a shower. I'm still a little sweaty from roller blading." Ali walked to the door of the basement.

"See ya later." Zac and Taylor both yelled from the basement. Isaac walked upstairs with her. He opened the front door for her.

"Hey Ali, I was wondering if you would like to go to the movies tonight with me." She looked at him blankly not knowing what to do. She liked Taylor and never bothered to think about Isaac. He was good looking to in a different way than what she saw Taylor in. After a moment of silence she finally agreed and said to pick her up around 7:00.

Isaac walked back down the flight of stairs to see Taylor kicking Zac's butt on Nintendo 64. He sat on the couch and watch his brother battle.

"See, Victory is Mine!" Taylor yelled in an english accent in Zac's face. "Oh, Hey Ike." Taylor said again turning around to face his older bro. "Whoa. You look like you've just scored a million touchdowns." Isaac's face had the widest grin on it.

"I'm going to the movies with Ali tonight." The smile on Taylor's face faded. I like Ali he shouldn't! Taylor thought in his mind. His brother was going out with a girl that he liked. Isaac stood up. "I'll be upstairs making some lunch. Want me to make you guys some?" Zac nodded his head and Taylor shoke his. "Okay." He walked upstairs and out of sight.

"C'mon Tay. Let's go again." Taylor clicked back into reality.

"Um, Sorry Prozac. I gotta go." Taylor scrambled to his feet and ran upstairs.

"Well when you gotta go, you gotta go!" Zac yelled at him. Taylor stopped at the top.

"I'm not going to the bathroom. I'm going to Kirsten's and David's." Taylor opened the front foor just as Zac came up the stairs. Zac walked into the kitchen where you could hear Isaac singing Madeline. Taylor walked outside. He still didn't take off his sweatshirt from before and it was a good thing to. He walked across the lawn and knocked on the door.

"Hi Taylor. Ali's just got out of the shower. You can wait in the living room." Kirsten told him. He took his seat on one of the marroon colored chairs. Kirsten went into the study where David already was. They were talking in hushed voices about Ali. Taylor tried to listen in on what they were saying but couldn't make out what.

"Hi Taylor." Ali said coming up behind him. He jumped.

"You scared me." He informed her. She looked at him and smiled.

"I'm sorry." He smiled back at her. "Why are you here?" She asked after a moment of staring at each other. Her hair was up and was still wet. She put on some pipe jeans and a blue swaetshirt.

"Well I wanted to know if you wanted to go to Laser Quest with Zac, Isaac, and I in an hour." Although he really didn't want Isaac to come he figured he should find out now who she would rather hang around with.

"Sure. I love Laser Quest. Do you wana see my room?" She asked pointing upstairs. Taylor smiled.

"Sure." He flowed her up the flight of stairs and into her room. It was almost identical to her room in Toledo except a couple of posters. In this room she had a regular closet, bed, nightstand, two dressers, and a desk with her laptop on it. She seated herself on her bed as Taylor took a seat at her desk. On her walls she had posters of 4 WNBA teams. "Do you have AOL?"

"Not on that laptop but on my other one I do." Taylor stared wide eyed at her.

"Are you like rich or something I mean you have 2 drumsets, 2 guitars, and 2 laptops? What does your dad do?" It seemed to Taylor everytime he asked about her family she seemed to get very serious.

"My dad travels alot. He's a buisness man and leaves me home alone all the time. That's why I'm here for Christmas because he's gone like usual." They sat silent for a minute until Taylor noticed Ali's neck. Her hair was pulled back and she had forgetten to put the cover over her bruise after her shower.

"Ali! What's on your neck?!" Taylor walked over and sat next to her. Her face went from happy to scared in seconds.

"It's just a bruise, Taylor." Her voice was very shaky and she knew he would ask how she got it. He moved her hair out of the way and looked at it.

"How did you get a bruise on the back of your neck?" Taylor sounded sarcastic and wasn't gonna take some lame excuse.

"You can't tell anyone." He nodded his head and listened to her speak. "My father gets drunk when ever he's home and takes a beating to me. He hit me in the back of my neck with the kitchen cutting board. He does it because it's my fault mom died and it should have been me." She started to choke up. Several tears fell from her eyes and rolled down her cheek. Taylor whipped them away.

"It's not your fault." He said trying to sooth her pain.

"Yes it is. I should have died not her. The stupid guy killed my mother for god sakes!" She said this while jumping up off the bed and snapping at Taylor. He looked hurt as more and more tears fell from her eyes. "It's all my fault!!!" She fell to her knees and let all the tears she was holding back fall. Taylor kneeled down beside her and put his arm around her. She suddenly grabbed him around the neck and cried in his shoulder startling him. "Why her?" She sobbed.
