Chapt er 35

The clock was ticking down for Ali. Everyone had already eaten dinner and they were all huddled in their beds. Tara wasn't saying anything and obviously had something on her mind. Ali knew what it was too. Ali was laying down with her head on Taylor's chest and her arm dangled around his waist. Taylor was gently rubbing Ali back thinking . . . about everything. Cordelia and Jason were down stairs in the basement writing music to a song they had written together about a month ago. They still hadn't quite gotten the music to fit. As for Isaac and Tara, they were just silently sitting there saying nothing. Isaac thought maybe something was wrong with Tara. She wasn't talking very much at the moment. ' Somethings really wrong. I gotta confront Ali about this whole mess.'

"Ali, can I talk to you in the other room for a minute?" Isaac asked sitting up on his elbows. He felt like Ali was like a sister to him now. Afterall his brother was talking about her so much when they were home and she always made a point to talk to Ike when she called the Hanson residents.

"Yeah, sure." She got up off the matress and walked down the stairs to the dinning room.

~* If you guyz have to gotten this yet, this is a splitlevel house but the floor in between is a dinning room. *~

Ali sat down on the bay window seat where her and Taylor had been together the previous evening. "What's up?" She asked not really thinking what he was gonna ask.

"I need to talk to you." Ike answered. Ali was clueless. As far as she knew, Ike didn't know a thing about the gun. "There's something I don't know about, isn't there?" Isaac had seen through her. He had seen through Tara too. He could read Tara's face now and knew something was being hidden from him and the others.

"Ike, I don't feel like talking about it, now." Ali was about to get up and scatter for the stairs but Isaac stepped in her path.

"I'm not letting you go until you tell me." He said sternly. "C'mon Al. You know how I feel about you. Your like my sister. I know something is up between you and Tara that your not telling me." Ali sat back down. He had defeated her. He would have to know. She couldn't put him off for another 4 hours. It would do no good.

"Promise me you will not tell a soul and you will not do anything to stop what I have to do." Isaac knew it had to be bad. 'Was she cheating on Taylor? Nah.' He nodded his head slowly.

"I promise."

"Okay." Ali looked up at Ike's eyes. They were pleading for the truth and the truth was what she hadn't intended to give. Now, she felt obligated to tell the truth. "Isaac, when my mom was . . . murdered the police said they had no evidence to who the killer was. All they had were smudged finger prints and that wasn't enough. Since then my uncle Dan has been trying to track the person who killed my mom. Ike, he found the guy. He really did and after a while more deaths started to occur with the same problem. No evidence. My uncle Dan was able to get enough finger prints to match them to a person. Richard." Ali stopped to take a breath. "The head of the police department didn't think they had enough evidence to search Richards' place. More and more mothers were killed. Which ment more and more kids like me, Ike. And the man that killed their's and my mother is a free walking man." She stopped talking to look at the expressions on Isaac's face. He was angry beyond belief. She continued to stop the awkward silence. "My Uncle called me to his office 4 months ago. He told me that he knew the man who killed my mother and that he knew a way to put the man away for good. Since that day I have been training. Training to kill Richard." Ali stopped again. Isaac looked stunned, like he had been smacking across the face. "If I can get Richard to tell me he killed all those women, all charges against me will be dropped. I have been trained to take him down, Ike. And I don't know if he'll take me down with him." And that was it. Ali had finally told someone the entire story other than Tara. It actually scared her more. Ike might try to stop her or even tell Taylor, but it didn't matter in her mind. She was going to take Richard down, for good. Isaac sat in silence taking it all in. 'Ali, could die.' Was his main concern at the moment.

"Why?" He asked. "Why, do you have to be the one? Why can't an actual police officer do it?" She sighed a long heavy sigh and looked up at him giving the signal as he wouldn't understand. "You have to tell Tay. If something serious happens to you he'll go insane. He loves you to much to loose you. Please, don't go Ali." Ike almost started to cry. He'd known Ali for 3 months and that was all it needed to grow attached to his friend. Ali looked away from Ike as she saw the tears start to form.

"I'm sorry but I have to, Ike. I've gotta do this." She whispered looking back at him. He stood up and pulled Ali into a hug squeezing her tight. Ali sure wasn't acting scared but he was scared enough for her. He couldn't even imagine the pain Taylor would go through if he lost Ali.
