"We'll see about that," she grinned.
This time Nick hutted the ball to Leigh Anne again. She threw the ball to Howie. Howie started running for the goal as he was stopped by little ol' Dawn a couple of centimeters away. "That's my girl!" Aaron yelled.
"Hey, you're on MY team Aaron," Nick said. "Not hers."
Everyone laughed at the comment. Everyone was having a good time, there was no visible tension between anyone, not even Theresa or Karen. They have somehow found a way to ignore each other without causing any problems. A half hour had past and Kevin's team was winning 27 - 24. All Nick's team needed was one more touchdown and they had two downs left. The two teams were in a huddle. Kevin's plan was to tackle whoever got the ball, not letting them through. Nick's plan was to get the ball to the goal no matter how they get there. "BREAK!" yelled the two teams. As Howie hutted the ball to Leigh Anne, she threw the ball to Karen. Karen started running towards the goal. She was getting closer and closer and all Theresa remembered was Kevin's words. "Tackle them and don't let them through." As Karen reached closer towards her Theresa ran towards her as well, tackling Karen to the ground as hard as she could. Karen fell to the ground with a large thud. Everyone watched in horror as the two girls collided, not in horror of injuries, BUT since the two hated each other.. everyone was scared. Theresa got up smiling, but Karen laid there still. Nick ran towards Karen. "Are you okay?"
No response. Brian ran towards her as well. "Karen are you okay?"
"I'm.. I'm fine!" Karen smiled. "I just got the wind knocked out of me. That's all." She got up and looked at Theresa. 'I don't know what your problem is but you're going to pay.' she thought evilly. "Let's finish off this game. Nick? We have a game to win."
"No, I think you should sit down." Nick said.
"I agree with him." Brian suggested.
"No, I'm fine, one more touchdown and the game's over. Don't worry about it I'm a tough girl.. I can handle it. It's football isn't it?" Karen smiled.
"Okay..." Nick said. And he whispered into her ear. "Be careful!"
Meanwhile, Dawn shot Theresa a dirty look. 'God, what's her problem?' She looked at Karen worried. 'I hope she's okay.'
Theresa slowly grinned inside her head. She was pleased with her work. She followed Kevin's order so she didn't fault in any way. 'What a wuss? Football is a game of contact. And contact is what I've given her. If she can't play the game why play at all.'
The two teams lined up. Leigh Anne recieved the ball and threw the ball towards Nick. He started towards the goal but passed it off to Howie before being tackled. Howie then passed it off to Karen and she ran towards the goal easily as no one was around her. She yelled out, "TOUCHDOWN!!!" Her team ran towards her to give her high-fives and hugs.
"We won! We won!" Aaron said excitedly.
Nick got up and looked at his team cheering. He stood there grinning and he says to Brian, "Looks like you LOST bro."
"Only cause you have a warrior on your team." Brian said about Karen.
"Yeah, she's great isn't she?" as he looked over at her with sparkling eyes.
Brian looked at the mesmerized Nick, 'He really likes her alot. God, why doesn't he just ask her out already.'
Nick caught Karen's eye, he smiled and ran up to her. "We won, thanks to you." He picked her up and kissed her in front of everyone. At this point he didn't care who was around, he was in his own world with the girl he cared for. Everyone stood there in shock.
Theresa's face turned white as A.J. yelled out, "Go Nick."
Brian looked at the happy Nick who had approached Karen. 'Those two are so cute together. Now that they're in love, I am now alone with no one.' He glanced at Leigh Anne and quickly looked away. 'I taught her football and man she has quite an arm... but I guess now my two best friends are with each other and I have no one.' He looked at the Karen and Nick who were still kissing.
As Nick put Karen down they looked around at the starring eyes. They both turned a bright shade of red. "Aww..they even blush together," Amanda joked.
"Well, well, when did this come about?" Howie played.
"Yeah, are you not telling us something?" Kevin asked suspiciously.
"Well.. um.. I..." Karen stuttered. "No, we're just friends."
"Friends?" A.J. commented. "That did not look like 'just friends' to me?"
Nick looked around. 'This is the right time to do it?' He grabbed Karen's hand and looked her in the eyes. "Ummm.. Karen.. I have a question for you?" his voice was trembling. "Will you go out with me?"
Karen looked at Nick. 'I do like him, but is it the right thing?' she thought to herself. She looked around. 'All these people watching, if I reject him it'll look bad. But I don't know what I want. Am I ready for a relationship?' She looked into his eyes to search for answers and when she got them she smiled and said, "Yes, I will."
Nick smiled and kissed her passionately.
With that Theresa's bottom lip dropped to the ground. Dawn looked at Aaron smiling. A.J. and Amanda were grinning crazily. Howie and Kevin was in shock. And Brian tried to force the best smile he could. He was thrilled that Nick finally asked her, but something made him disappointed. Leigh Anne noticed this look on Brian and went up to talk to him. "Brian, are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine!" Brian said. "Why do you ask?"
"Brian we went out for two years. I can tell what you're feeling. You don't look so happy." Leigh Anne mentioned. "Aren't you happy for Nick?"
"Yeah I'm excited he liked her since he first laid eyes on her. I'm jumping with joy he finally asked her out. Why wouldn't I be okay?" Brian said excitedly. "She deserves everything in the world and Nick is good for her." he explained.
"Brian, sounds to me you like her."
"What?" he said offended. "No, what makes you say that? She's only a friend. I admit we got close since the day we met, but it's because she trusted me with things and I trusted her. She was there for me when I needed her like I was for her....." he stopped. 'Maybe Leigh Anne's right. I think.... But I can't...Nicky has her now.' he looked at Leigh Anne. "No Leigh Anne you don't know what your talking about. We're just friends."
"If you say so." she walked away.
As Nick and Karen continued to embrace, everyone decided to leave the two alone. "Well now that we're an official couple, I just want to hold you and keep you in my arms." Nick said.
Karen just smiled as she saw Theresa shoot her a dirty look. 'What's her problem? I... It's like she likes him or something but she has a boyfriend.. it can't be that... but..' Karen looked at Nick and at Theresa again. 'Could that be the reason?'
"Karen can we go inside and watch some T.V.?" Nick said wanting to get her away from it all, he wanted her to himself right now.
"Sure, let's go!" she agreed and they headed inside hand in hand.
Meanwhile, Dawn says to Aaron, "Wow, I guess Nick really does like Karen."
"Yeah, they are good together." Aaron commented.
"I'm happy for him," Dawn said forgetting about Theresa's feelings for him until she saw Theresa standing alone looking rejected. "I'm going to talk to Theresa."
"Alright?" he said as she walked towards her.
"Theresa? Are you okay?"
"YEAH! I'M FINE!" she said rudely.
"Calm down, Theresa. God, I can't even ask you if you're alright?"
"I'm sorry, I'm just shocked at why he would pick a bitch like that."
"She's not a bitch Theresa."
"You know what Dawn, it's either me or her. And it looks like you like Karen too." Theresa got mad, "I'm leaving now." And she left as quickly as she could.
"There---" but she was too late, Theresa was gone and she was left standing there.
"Dawn? Are you okay?" Aaron asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine!" Dawn said. "I'm worried about her."
"Just let her be alone for awhile. She has a lot on her mind and she needs to sort things out." Aaron said speaking little truth.
"You're right..now let's get back to the others." Dawn smiled.
"Brian?" Leigh Anne asked. "Are you sure your okay?"
"Yeah Leigh Anne, please don't worry about me. I guess I'm a little tired." Brian said. "I'm going to go to bed now."
"Brian please, I care about you and I want to help."
"Leigh Anne, it's okay... I just need some sleep." he said as he got up to go to his room. "I'll talk to you later, alright?"
"Yeah.." she said sadly. "Later." she said. 'What's wrong with him? It's more than just me breaking up with him.... What is it?' she was worried now.
As Brian walked up to his room, he looked into the family room and saw Karen lying in Nick's arms as they watched television. 'Am I feeling jealousy or am I feeling happy?' He started to walk up the stairs when he looked back at them. 'I'm glad Karen chose Nick. I'd rather have her with Nick than with anyone else.' he said protectively. He continued up the stairs and into his room. He shut the door and lied on his bed. 'First, Leigh Anne cheats on me with another guy and then I lose my best friend to a beautiful girl. I hope Nick doesn't forget about me. I kind of helped them get together.' he starred at his ceiling. 'I had lots of good times with Karen and they will always be treasured.' he smiled to himself. He got up and went to his closet to grab a pair of boxers and as he changed, 'I hope I can find someone like her, who'll make me happy.' He climbed into his bed and fell asleep without any more thoughts. Everything that has been going through his head had made him tired from thinking about it. That he immediately fell asleep.
Meanwhile, downstairs. "Karen, you mean the world to me." Nick started. "I'm glad I know now that I have you." he said as he kissed her forehead.
"Nick, I know I do," she joked "Why else would you ask me out in front of everyone?" she laughed. She looked up at him. "You mean a lot to me too." 'I think' she continued in her mind. 'Am I beginning to have doubts?' she asked herself. She felt his big hands hold onto hers and his breath on her neck. 'I feel so protected in his arms and I could feel his heart beating crazily.' She held onto his hands tightly and kissed them to let him know that she cares as well. Nick smiled and held onto her tighter.
They continued to watch television as they were flipping through channels. There was nothing on. Nick turned off the TV. "There's nothing on." he said. "Do you want to go back outside?" he asked getting up.
"No, I want to be here with you in your arms alone...." she said holding him down.
"I've dreamed of this the day I met you and now my dreams are coming true," he said.
She was glad that she made him happy. She never felt so important to anyone before. And Nick made her feel special. Which made her feelings become less doubtful. And she was beginning to feel the strong vibes that Nick was sending her. She got up and turned around to look at him. "You're special to me, too." she smiled sweetly.
Nick was grinning from ear to ear. He pulled her into him and he gave her a soft kiss. But Karen deepened the kiss and the next thing you know it she was on top of him on the couch as Nick laid under her. She caressed his hair and he rubbed her back as they were getting into it. "Wait," Nick stopped. "Anyone could walk in on us at any time."
"You're right." Karen tried to get up but Nick pulled her back down and laid her body next to his.
"But you're staying right here with me and we can lay here in each others arms."
"I'm going to get a drink. I'll be right back alright?"
"You better come back fast cause I'm going to miss you like crazy."
"Okay." she laughed and kissed his lips.
She headed into the kitchen and she saw Leigh Anne sitting there alone. She went to get her drink and tried to leave but she was stopped by Leigh Anne. "Congratulations."
"Umm.. thanks." she mumbled.
"Look, I'm sorry for yelling at you that night. I didn't know that Brian was just helping. I didn't have the right to call you a whore." she explained.
Karen surprised replied. "It's okay. You didn't know. I really didn't want to stand in the way of your relationship with Brian, I didn't know you were his girlfriend. But nothing happened. We were only laughing and having a good time like friends that's all."
"I know Brian explained." Leigh Anne said.
"Oh..."
"I'm sorry. It was my fault.." Leigh Anne said as she started to cry. "I've caused Brian so much pain and it's really affecting him. I really did love him, but Jordan... he... I don't know.. I still love Brian but the kind of love that I felt before isn't there anymore."
"I understand Leigh Anne, but I think if you told him before him finding out the way he did, he would have understood even better. But you wouldn't even talk to him, youpushed him away when he wanted to work things out." Karen said. "I know this because he told me, he loves you too Leigh Anne, but he also understands that he has to move on, all he wanted was an explanation and you could have gave him that."
"You and Brian ARE really close eh?" Leigh Anne commented thinking about what she asked Brian earlier if he liked her.
"Yeah, we trust each other with everything and he's been there for me ever since he met me. And we've gotten to know each other well enough to know how we feel about certain things."
'Except for each other.' Leigh Anne thought to herself. "That's good. I'm glad Brian has you to go to when he has a problem, I noticed that lately. You guys act like you are siblings. I'm glad that Brian is in good hands."
"Well, you'll still come over right? You guys are still friends?"
"Yeah, but I don't know if Brian will want me to come over. And I'd love to stay friends with Brian and everyone else. They've treated me like a sister ever since I met them and I can't lose that.. They're a part of my life now."
"Well, if I invite you over, he can't say anything, because you're my friend. Well, at least, I'd like you to be?"
"Yeah for sure, I'd love to be friends..." Leigh Anne smiled. "Thank you so much for talking with me."
"KAREN!!" Nick yelled. "WHERE ARE YOU?"
"Well, I guess I should get back to Nick..."
"Yeah, you guys are cute together." Leigh Anne laughed. 'But Brian likes you.. I know it!'
"Thanks, it was nice talking to you. I'll see you later." Karen smiled.
She returned to the family room and there he was laying on the couch watching her as she walked in. She walked up to the couch and he said, "Where were you? You took a long time. " he said child-like as he pulled her legs closer to him as she was standing there. "I was beginning to miss you."
"I stopped to talk with Leigh Anne for a bit. She needed someone to talk to." Karen explained.
"I see, that's what I like about you. You put others ahead of yourself. You remind me so much of Brian." Nick said. "No wonder I like you so much. Brian and I are best friends and we are very compatible... Like me and you." he said.
"Are we...?" she slowly said.
"Come here." Nick said.
She sat down on his stomach. "Haha..am I heavy?" she laughed.
"No, you're light as a feather." Nick said. "And I want you now." he joked.
"Well, you can't have me." she teased as she got up and slowly walked to her bedroom.
Nick got up and followed her. As she walked into her room,she saw Nick coming up as well. When he approached her door, she shut the door in his face. "Awww..come on..I'll be good!!" he joked.
She opened the door and laughed but he wasn't there. She looked out the door and looked around for him. But he wasn't there. All of a sudden, he jumped out of the corner which made her jump. "BOO!"
"Hey, you scared me..." Karen whined. "I don't like you anymore."
"Oh come on! You can't get rid of me.. I'm your boyfriend and I'm going to be in your face all night long." Nick laughed. He shut the door and started tickling her.
She was very ticklish. "No Nick stop this isn't funny," she said squirming around on the floor.
He picked her up and placed her on her bed. "What you don't like being tickled?" he said as he continued to tickle her.
Karen was trying to squirm her way out from under him but she accidently kicked him in the crotch...Nick fell to the ground moaning. "Oh... I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to..." she said slowly. She got up and walked towards him. "I... oops." "Is that all you can say? Oops? Nice girlfriend I have."
"What'd you want me to do kiss it better?" she laughed. "Cause I won't!!!!"
"Why not?" he smiled.
"Nick, you have a raunchy mind!" she said walking away.
"You said it!" he said.
"Okay I'm sorry I said it." she said, "Now get up!"
"I can't... gee how am I suppose to make babies now?" he joked.
"Shut up!!" Karen said. "I already feel bad for kicking you there. Teaches you to tickle me."
"Yeah, I know not to tickle you ever again." he said getting up.
"I'm sorry, I really am!"
"Sure you are." Nick kidded as he sat on her bed next to Karen.
"I am..."
"Prove it!"
Karen got up and sat on his lap. "I'm sorry."
"What? Your in my arms, that doesn't work."
She leaned in and kissed him. Nick fell backwards as he got into the kiss. She was on top of him again like they were downstairs. The moment was heating up again. 'God, she knows how to turn a guy on.' Nick thought to himself. He rolled over and put her soft body under his. He kissed her passionately and started to rub her thighs. Karen put her hands under his shirt and rubbed his back. She could feel his body trying not to push against her in any way to hurt her. So she pulled his body up against her and he just collapsed onto her still kissing her neck. He was heavy but she didn't care, she felt right at that point. She had forgotten about Brian and he had forgotten about his aching crotch.. (AN: haha) Everything had turned into an uncontollable urge, they couldn't stop their hands and lips from wandering around, as Nick slipped his hands under her shirt and Karen was kissing his neck. Nick moved his lips to her ear and started nibbling on them. She could feel his heavy breath on her neck. They kept continuing this urge until, Karen stopped. "What? What's wrong?" Nick said breatheless.
"We just started going out two hours ago and look at us, we're already almost on third base."
Nick laughed. "Yeah, I guess we should move slowly...."
"Haha," she laughed and got up from under Nick. "I'm going to take a shower."
"And I'm going to be right here." Nick smiled.
She went into the bathroom and took her shower. 'Wow, that was amazing! I never felt like that before.' she thought as she was taking her shower.
'Damn, she's hot!' Nick thought crazily. 'She just gives me this rush. I guess things were getting out of hand just now but... wow!' he continued to think as he got tired and slowly dozed off.
