CD REVIEWS

1. Skoidats: "The Times" -- This band has a very original sound that ranges from Traditional Ska to Oi! This CD has a very tight feel, probably due to fact that their drummer is really damn good. Contains a cover of the Irish Drinking Classic, "Beer, Beer, Beer." Moon Ska Records

2. Cockney Rejects: "Oi! Oi! Oi! the tin" -- This is a collection of the Cockney Rejects greatest hits, I believe. This CD was released by The Harry May Record Company with only 3000 copies pressed. It comes with 5 postcard size pictures of the band. Every song on this CD is great, get this if you can.

3. Boot Party: "Bricks to Concrete" -- This California Oi! band has a very basic and very catchy sound. Sort of like older Oppressed, but a little bit faster and heavier. This band is now broken up and some members formed another band called "Soldier 76", with a more complex and clean sound. Both bands material are released on Vulture Rock records.

4. Patriot: "Another Dead Generation" -- A Great sophmore release from these guys. I like this full length even better than their debut, "Cadence from the Street." Great Oi! with awesome guitar solos, on GMM Records.

5. Beltones: "On Deaf Ears" -- 10 song EP from this Florida band. They have a very original sound and are great live. Very recommended. TKO Records

6. Templars: "Omne Datum Optimum" -- The new LP from one of the best Oi! bands around. The Templars finally got into a professional studio to record this one, and the results are amazing. Includes re-recorded versons of the songs "Templars" and "Victim." Also includes other great songs like "They Don't Care", "Coward", and "These Four Walls." GMM/Templecombe Records

7. The Vigilantes: "City Lights That Lead The Way..." -- These guys are not just another punk band from Boston, these guys fuckin rock! Imagine Cock Sparrer combined with the Misfits and you've got The Vigilantes! Really catchy Steetpunk, on GMM Records.

8. Terminus City: "Justice Isn't Always Fair" -- 14 Track Debut CD from this local Atlanta Oi! band. Includes a cover of "Time Was Right" by the Partisans. Great musicianship and smart lyrics. Not one bad song in the bunch. TKO Records

9. The Skoidats: "A Cure For What Ales You" -- Finally a follow up to their 1997 release "The Times." The band is now a 5-piece, with only one sax player. But they still sounds great. This release has more Oi! style songs including an rockin' cover of Cock Sparrer's "Running Riot" live in Amsterdam. Moon Ska Records

10. Bonecrusher: "Followers of a Brutal Calling" -- This is one of the best CD's of 2000. CA Streetpunk with lots of talent. There is no band to compare their style to, but any fan of Oi!, Steetpunk, or Skinhead Rock N' Roll will be sure to enjoy this. Outsider Records

10. Negative Approach: "Total Recall" -- This is a 38 track collection of N.A. material recorded from '81 - '84. The first 21 songs, are great. But the last 17 tracks are hard to listen to because the quality of the recordings are not too good. During their live sets they do a few covers including Agnostic Front's "Friend or Foe" 4 Skins' "Chaos" and the Blitz song "Never Surrender." Touch and Go Records
