I Hate Getting Up In The Morning

(version 1) Mitch Murray, 1966 (mono), 1992 (stereo).  Recorded: 22-02-66

Johnny Kidd (vocals) - Additional accompaniment directed by Johnny Harris

This version with slick backing supplied by Johnny Harris accompanied "It's Got To Be You" to make up the Kidd's penultimate release in 1966.  There was a previous version cut with the Pirates some five months before - this remained in the can while HMV wondered what best to do and by the time this single came out the Pirates had split from Kidd in an attempt to make it on their own.

I said I hate getting up in the morning, baby
I wake up feeling so blue
When I gotta go-o-o-o-o, when I gotta go

I said I hate getting up in the morning, baby
When I've been dreaming of you
The whole night lo-o-o-o-ong, yeah
The whole night long

When I turn around
And find you there no more
I gotta shout down through that window
Mister milkman did you see my baby walking through that door

I said I hate getting up in the morning, baby
When I've been dreaming of you
The whole night lo-o-o-o-ong, yeah
The whole night long

(instrumental break)

After dreaming of you
I try getting back to sleep
But I can never seen to find you
Darling, everywhere I look for you I'm bumping into sheep

I said I hate getting up in the morning, baby
When I've been dreaming of you
The whole night lo-o-o-o-ong, yeah
The whole night long
The whole night lo-o-o-o-ong, yeah
The whole night long
