In which Paul Oakenfold and Steve Osborne are let loose on Hurricane
#1’s finest five minutes, cranking up the beats and giving it a mainline
injection of sci-fi synthetics which makes it sound a wee bit like Mr
Numan’s ‘Cars’ for sporadic split seconds. Andy Bell’s shimmering
guitar refrain and Alex Lowe’s throaty vocals are still present and
correct but the remix replaces the original baggy fluidity with mechanical
precision and the sort of electro menace much favoured by Nine Inch
Nails. Fans of Ride’s remixes (especially ‘I Don’t Know Where It
Comes From’) will doubtless love this.
