Personal Profile: Kevin Richardson

Kevin Ricahrdson is as well known for his dark good looks as he is for being the oldest member of the Backstreet Boys. Usually, being the eldest holds a certain connotion of leadership, and in Kevin's case, that's definitely true. He's deemed the father-figure of the group and has admitted in interviews that he's very serious, especially when it comes to music and business concerning the Backstreet Boys. If you're a true fan of Kevin's, then you already know that he enjoys playing th piano as much as he does stressing his vocal chords. In fact, according to Billboard, Kevin's two heroes are Elton John and Billy Joel, two famous piano men who need no descriptions. Ever since Kevin got his first keyboard freshman year in high school, he was hooked. Kevin then entered numerous talent contest and was often asked to play at weddings and restaurants. His first love has always been music and he even played in a band back in his native Kentucky, but things just didn't seem to be going anywhere for Kevin musically. His next career choice was to enlist in the air force, but it was Kevin's father who pushed him towards music. Gerarld Richardson, who unfortunately passed away at age 49 from a battle with cancer, advised Kevin to follow his dream and with that blessing, Kevin took off for sunny Orlando, Florida, which, as we all know, changed his life forever. While waiting for his big break, Kevin worked at Walt Disney World, where he would often have to dress up in the guise of a Ninja Turtle or Aladdin. Although this wasn't Kevin's idea of showbusiness, it still paid for his room and board. With the support of his family, Kevin stuck it out, knowing that something better had to be on it's way. And it was. it was in Orlando that the Backstreet Boys were created. Because of his endless determination, the other guys in the band gave Kevin the nickname "Train" because once he gets going, there's no stopping him.
