BluesTraveler

Blues Traveler is the greatest band out there today. Overcoming adversity--the death of their bassist--and continuing to press on in all there ventures. Their latest project was to release four songs for free on their website in .mp3 format as an album entitled "Decisions of the Sky: A Traveler's Tale of Sun and Storm". Even better than that, the new album, "Bridge," is out and it is some of the best material BT has ever put together.

As stated by frontman John Popper on the band's official website:
"I feel it is my responsibility to remind those of you who are not aware that we have free, yes free, songs for the taking on our site. If you have made it this far you are already probably well aware. Anyhow, these songs are only available here so enjoy. We rest well at night knowing that these songs are the property of the masses and not the money handling powers that may be. God bless."

The bad news is that these are all the downloads to have been released. The good news is that "Bridge" is out and in stores now!

A Traveler's Diary:
April 28, 2001: Saw Blues Traveler play at the Webster Theatre in Hartford, CT. The show was amazing...definite testimony to the fact that BT is back and better than ever! They played a wonderful mix of the new and the old and even threw in two covers. The first cover was the Charlie Daniels Band's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," which featured Chan taking the part of the fiddlers and playing the hell out of it...it left the crowd awestruck! The other cover was Bob Marley's "No Woman, No Cry," which had the full attention and participation of the crowd...once again, the guys proved that there's nothing they can't do. Without a doubt, "But Anyways" definitely received the best reception of every song..always a favorite. The night ended on a bittersweet note when they played an acoustic set for an encore which ended with "Pretty Angry," as a tribute to fallen bandmate Bobby Sheehan. The two newest members, Ben Wilson on keyboards/synthesizers and Tad Kinchla, brother of Chan, on bass guitar, were amazing in their performance and delivery. The entire crowd, which ranged in age from 14 to 50, exited the arena knowing that they got more than their money's worth out of the band (some even got a souvenir or two between the guitar picks and harmonicas that were thrown into the audience at the end!) and with the satisfaction of knowing that Blues Traveler will go on despite the adversity that it has faced.

April 12, 2002: Saw the boys play at the Fox Theater at Foxwoods in CT. Another awesome show. The only real downfall that night was the fact that I fumbled the harp! It was in my hand, but I let it bounce never to have it again. Well, then again, I did get to shake Chan "the Man"s hand. Two new songs played at the show: "You're the One" and "Thinnest of Air." New album on the horizon in the near future?! A person can dream can't he?! Until the next show...Cape Cod or Stowe, VT?
