 This is an ongoing update of all the things happening in town for each month! The dark pink font will be my comments about the shows I attend!  November 6, 1998 Another 98Rock sponsor event: 3rd Anniversary Party with Kirk, Mark, and Lopez with live onstage appearances by NEVER NEVER (a great Led Zepplin tribute band) and HECTIC RED, who I've never heard of until NOW! Show is at 8pm but I'm not sure what the cost is yet, so check back as this date approaches. Back To November 1998 Calendar November 6, 1998 It's LA GUNS again! But this time they are at Jaxx Concert Hall and Night Club in Springfield VA! Their special guests are Gilbey Clark and C.C. Deville (wasn't he the guitarist for Poison many moons ago? That's one band I'd like to see in concert again!). Not sure what the price is for this show so bring a bag of cash with ya! Back To November 1998 Calendar November 11, 1998 STABBING WESTWARD is opening up for DEPECHE MODE again! If you missed them the first time around, catch them this time they're on tour together! A little farther to drive since this show is at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA! Tickets available through Ticketmaster so call now! Back To November 1998 Calendar November 15, 1998 CAKE is coming to the 9:30 Club in Washington DC. I really like this band because they have some very different sounds. I like their new song on this next album they have out in stores today so go pick it up! OH NO...just checked and this show is sold out already! Guess I'll have to catch 'em around next time and I'm sure it will be soon! Back To November 1998 Calendar November 16, 1998 The last time I caught DAYS OF THE NEW in concert was when they opened for Metallica in July! I miss half their set cuz of traffic and parking the car....but I like their acoustic sounds and their CD is very good! DOTN will be at the 9:30 club in Washington DC. Tickets are available through Ticket Master at $15.00 each. Maybe I'll actually hear them for more than 15 minutes! FINGER ELEVEN AND FLIGHT 16 are opening for them. Good opening bands!!! Go check them all out! THIS SHOW HAS BEEN CANCELLED!!!! Back To November 1998 Calendar November 21, 1998 Guess who's back at Daytona's? It's HONOR AMONG THIEVES and their guest BUZZ POETS! You can check them out for only 5 bucks and the show starts at 8pm. Great price for some FANTASTIC music by a great local band! Hey, these guys picked up a new guitarist (might be a previous guitarist from their band) and are changing their name to "Radio Star". Personally, I like "Honor Among Thieves" much better. Their new name sounds really g......well, I'll be polite and not say what I'm thinking for once. Their previous promise of a brand new CD has now turned into a mere 3 song cassette and they are selling them for 5 bucks a pop! I've also seen these guys three times this year but Nitedrifter has a change of heart about this group. Besides the new name change and new lead guitarist, the strong vibes I was getting from this group just isn't there this time around. Could my predictions be wrong for once?? Well, they did shift quickly with the tides and so can my opinions! PLUS, I am a woman....hehehe =) BUZZ POETS were high energy but have some really messed up lyrics...what's with the one about Barbie?? Needless to say, my 5 year old niece would hate them for bashing Barbie. These guys are originally from Philadelphia and will be playing at The Vault next friday night if you wanna check them out! Back To November 1998 Calendar November 25, 1998 I Just can not get enough of these guys! Jimmie's Chicken Shack will be at Bohagers in Fell's Point so catch them if you haven't done so already! Tickets available thru Ticketmaster or pick 'em up at Bohagers! Back To November 1998 Calendar November 25, 1998 Same day show as JCS above but this one is a lot farther to drive to! If you grew up in the "Glam Rock" era, then you are going to love this show! It's Warrant and Slaughter in one venue!! This show is at Jaxx Concert Hall and Night Club in Springfield, VA (Is that the springfield where the Simpsons live? I didn't think so either!) This apparently is a new concert and there's no price list so your guess is as good as mine! My guess is $12 - $15, what's yours? Back To November 1998 Calendar November 27, 1998 Come check out LAUGHING COLORS at Daytonas. These guys are always a crowd pleaser! It is also Ladies Night which means that all ladies drink for only $5.00...bottomless cup! Also, come early to check out the Best Male Body Contest. Doors open at 8pm and its only $6.00 to get in! I'll be at this show!! I had a great time right up to the time I saw my Ex-boyfriend. I think he's ruined Laughing Colors for me....hahahaha. Oh well. There were a lot of people at this show...Laughing Colors have a huge following of local fans. Go check them out at Jillians on New Years Eve. Back To November 1998 Calendar November 30, 1998 A Boston band called GODSMACK will be at The Vault and it is a 98 Rock sponsored event meaning it is only 98 Cents to get in the door! 18 or older. This is the newest club in Baltimore and from what I hear, it's a real happening place! It's only 4 blocks from Camden Yards so go check this club out and catch GODSMACK at the end of the month! From what I hear, they have a totally hard and heavy sound with an industrial edge. I've heard them on the radio and I think they're pretty cool. I will definately try to make this show! Ya know what? I completely forgotten about this show until I looked at the clock at 3am....but ya know what else? It turned out that they cancelled the show because one of the band members were sick or something like that. It's kinda weird how I forgot about it when I was so excited days before and then, they just happen to cancell the show....hmmm... Back To November 1998 Calendar |
