This is an ongoing update of all the things happening in town for each month! The dark pink font will be my comments about the shows I attend! December 11, 1998 Have you checked out the new club in Baltimore, THE VAULT? Guess who is "coming" to the vault in December? It's SECOND COMING and NOT "Second Cumming" as I erraneously spelled in previous writings...could it be a freudian slip?!? Anyway, they have this awesome song called "SOFT" but let me tell you, there is nothing 'soft' about this song or their music! These guys are pretty hard rockers coming out of Seattle....following other famous bands from that area, Alice In Chains...Soundgarden...etc. It's only 5 bucks and you can get your ticket from Ticket Master or at The Vault! age 18+. Oh yeah, REBEL AMISH RADIO will be opening up for them. I'll try to catch this show!! Talk about an intimate crowd...there weren't too many people there tonight surprisingly! The Vault's sound system is pretty good and the bands sounded great. Rebel Amish Radio were really high energy and some of their songs are pretty catchy. Second coming came on and it was obvious the lead singer was real drunk and kept asking everyone for pot! There were a few times he almost felt down and I think he was rewriting some of the lyrics too...hahahha. At one time, the lead guitarist with his ZZTOP beard threw out a guitar pick at the only guy standing on the floor and amazingly, the guy couldn't find it....hahhahhahaha....I can understand it if there was a huge crowd of people but he was the only person out there...hahhahhahhaha...too funny!! Nevertheless, they did sound great and it was a shame there weren't more people supporting them tonight. I still had a good time! Back To December 1998 Calendar December 18, 1998 Guess who is coming back in town?? Remember awhile back at the CREED concert at Merriweather? Well, if you were there, you know that one of the opening bands, FUEL, was amazing!! They will be at the Bayou in Georgetown (Washington DC). This is a DC 101 sponsored event meaning that all loyal listeners (like myself) get in for only $5.01, everyone else has to pay $7.01. Tickets available through Ticket Master or get it at the door the night of the show! This concert is part of "A week long salute with low dough shows to commemorate the Bayou's permanent closing on December 31st" and each night, DC 101 will be collecting toys for the Foster Care Program of the DC Council of Governments. I'll be bringing in a bag of toys to this show!! Check out these guys cuz they are awesome. Their newest song release is called "BITTERSWEET" and don't forget to pick up their newest CD "SUNBURN". Wanna know something weird? I had a dream about the lead singer for Fuel on 12/04 and it prompted me to surf the net for some info on the group which lead me to finding out about their show at the Bayou!! If I didn't dream it, I probably wouldn't have known about this show. I'm soooooooo upset!!! This show is sold out as of today 12/13 =( I should've bought my tickets early, like when I first found out!!!! Man, I'm sooooo upset cuz I was so looking forward to it....their style of music fits me so well and it's ashame to let myself miss it. I should've just bought a pair of tickets (even though it turns out that I need 4 of them) instead of waiting for others to make up their minds on going or not. So much for having a dream about him. Words can not describe how upset I am at myself for not getting tickets to this show..... Back To December 1998 Calendar December 19, 1998 I've loved AEROSMITH for such a long time....."Permanent Vacation" was the first Rock cassette I ever bought and I still love it! I guess you can say that AEROSMITH was the gateway for my love of Rock Music...they along with many other bands were a huge influence in my early teen years. Nice trip down memory lane but let's get back to the present! AEROSMITH will be at the MCI CENTER with CANDLEBOX opening up for them!!! I'd love to go to this show but I hear that the only seats left are "obstructed view". Ugh.......ya know, I love CANDLEBOX too so this is a big disappointment for me to not be able to go =( Well, if you can manage decent seats, go check them out and then email me about the show!! Back To December 1998 Calendar December 19, 1998 If you're not going to catch AEROSMITH tonight, then you need to get over to Daytonas!! Why you ask? I'll tell ya....The coolest, not to mention my favorite DJ, Matt Davis, will be hosting Daytona's Christmas Party with the band "BACK IN BLACK". These guys are an AC/DC tribute band so definately check them out if you love AC/DC!! This show is only $5.00 at the door and it is a 98 Rock sponsored event. The fun starts at 8pm but the band won't be on probably until 10pm so plan accordingly. It's quite possible I'll be at this show and hey, missing Aerosmith and Candlebox won't be so bad if I can meet the most awesome DJ in late night radio, right?? How far can flattery really go?? hmmm... Did the doors really open at 8pm cuz I must've strolled in after midnight. Talk about anything that could happen, actually did! Between having to pick my mom up from work at 9pm and she informing me that she needed a ride at 10pm somewhere to my massive coughing fits which lead to a horrible nose bleed (I'll spare ya the details..but can someone really lose that much blood and still make it out to a club? Guess I was pretty determined!), I finally left my house at 11pm. Only to find out that a friend of mine who was going with me was having some contact lens problem. I guess it's not a good sign when they burn in her eyes. Like the good friend that I am, I got her some saline from the store! We were suppose to stop by some Christmas party but we opted to go to Daytonas and finally arrived minutes after midnight! The whole night wasn't a complete waste because I did happen to meet my favorite DJ, Matt Davis! He was leaving as I was walking up to the building....talk about good timing! He is every bit as cool and nice as he sounds on the air...plus I love his hair...it's long!! Well, the band was pretty cool. They sounded a lot like AC/DC. Their guitar player was wild...he ran around the place playing his guitar (even in a ice bin) and was dragging girls up on the stage with him. Overall, they sounded pretty good. Worth checking out if you're into AC/DC. Back To December 1998 Calendar December 31, 1998 I'm sure everyone is planning their New Year's Eve Festivities by now. If you're up for some loud music to bring in the New Year, then exercise your right to choose your fun! These are some of your local club options (in no particular order): DAYTONAS: FUNNY MONEY and RADIO STAR (formerly known as Honor Among Thieves). Tickets are $15.00 in advance through Ticket Master or at Daytonas or $20.00 at the door. The fun starts at 8pm! THE VAULT: ONCE HUSH. Tickets are $20.00 and can be purchased in advance through Ticket Master or at The Vault. JILLIANS in Annapolis: LAUGHING COLORS. I can't recall what the price is for this show but the next time I go there to shoot pool, I'll check and then update my site! I believe that REBEL AMISH RADIO is opening up but don't quote me on that. BOHAGERS: There is some "gala" thing going on at Bohagers. Click the link to read about it. It's more of a formal thing since it's black tie optional! FLETCHERS: ALL MIGHTY SENATORS. Ya know, I don't even know if I like this group but they popped up in my search for this date so check them out if you know their music! This is the page I found their show dates. That's it for now but I'll update as soon as I find out more. Back To December 1998 Calendar |
