 This is an ongoing update of all the things happening in town for each month! The dark pink font will be my comments about the shows I attend!  January 9, 1999 If you love Metallica, then you will love Battery! Battery is an awesome Metallica tribute band so go check them out at Daytonas for only 5 bucks! Doors open at 8pm. We got here around 11:30pm and the band was already half way into their first set! But they rock! Sounded musically a lot like Metallica but I kept looking for vocals to sound similar but it was cool though! Definately go check out these guys the next time they are in town! They were doing this funny thing where they were replacing the words "seek and destroy" with the most vulgar thing the audience could think of. It was so funny....hahahhah. I laugh at everything....nothing really offends me. What they ended up substituting was the phrase (if you're easily offended, don't read this next part and please don't flame me!): Sucking on a used tampon. hahhahha...that was pretty sick but it was all a joke...lighten up people! Some people really yelled out some lame shit. Between sets, some guy decided to air guitar his way to fame...it was pretty hilarious to see. The band even did the new Metallica's cover of Bob Seger's "Turn The Page". They did good considering they didn't really practice it....and it was supposedly their first time performing that live! They even had fireworks on stage....I knew I smelled something burning when I got up front! I had a good time despite the many looks I got from people who didn't think I look like a headbanger! I guess I don't dress or look like a 'typical headbanger' but hey, I'm a headbanger at heart and I can head bang like no one else!!! hahhahha. I was there for like five minutes and the guy standing in front of me turned around and leaned over to whisper "you don't look like a headbanger." I didn't know how to respond to that....but ya know what...if I had to really judge him, he didn't look like a headbanger either!!!! Don't judge a book by it's cover! Back To January 1999 Calendar January 16, 1999 Laughing Colors are coming back to Daytonas and you can catch them for just $6.00 at the door! This band usually bring in a huge crowd so definately check them out if you're in the mood for some partying! They are also having a huge boxing fight viewed on the big screen in the other room where the dance floor is. What a great time!! I got there so late like usual...around 11:15pm and there were tons of people there for these two events! Tyson won the boxing match in case you don't know but hey, I was on the music side since I'm not much of a boxing fan. It was cool cuz I did manage to run into my favorite DJ again tonight but didn't get a chance to talk to him for all that long...better luck next time! Laughing colors were really good tonight. I was totally buried in the crowd like in second row center. I really like being close to the stage and the people weren't getting all that rowdy so it was definately cool. The only totally bad glitch I ran into tonight at the show was seeing my dumbass Ex-boyfriend again! Twice I've been to a Laughing Colors show, I've seen him!!! This time he was like 2 feet away from me. He's such a F@#king Dick!!!! Ok, I'll pay someone next time to kick his ass...hahahhaha...or if money isn't what you want, I'm sure we can work something out...hahahha. Back To January 1999 Calendar January 19, 1999 This show was just announce a few days ago and I'm so excited about it! It's GODSMACK who was suppose to be at the Vault a while back but their show was cancelled due to some medical reason. Well, they are back and this time, it's a FREE show! It's at the 8x10 which is in Fell's Point, I believe. I know it's blocks away from the harbor in Baltimore so definately go check them out and get there early because there will be a line! I've never been to this place so I'll have to check it out before the 19th and find some cool places to park. I just got their CD yesterday and so far, it sounds pretty good! I WON A PAIR OF GUARANTEED ADMISSION TICKETS FROM 98 ROCK!! It was totally cool and who best to win them from than my favorite DJ!! aaaaaaaahhhhh...what a great time I had at this show! The 8X10 was kinda small but it was a nice place. Very unusual with the drummer stage raised up another 4 feet from the already 4 feel high stage! Of course I had to be up front and man, those people were so rowdy but it was cool. I like it kinda rough up there cuz you know the people are really getting into the music! Godsmack sounded great but the lead singer's mic could've been louder. It was way cool that they were burning candles and incense! I noticed that the lead singer was wearing a necklace with a pentagram on it which is very awesome! It was a truly spiritual experience and yes the alcohol helped...hahahha. I manage to get a drumstick but it's not autographed...no biggie..it was used cuz there's bang marks all over it!! Definately check Godsmack out next time they are in town! The opening band wasn't bad, Push Monkey. They had one of the rhythmic guitarist with really long flowing hair....mmm....I just love guys with long hair =) Back To January 1999 Calendar January 22, 1999 I've lost count as to how many times I've seen these guys! They are more awesome each time I go to their show. And if you don't have their CD yet....shame on you! Their CD "pushing the salmanilla envelope" kicks ass! Check out Jimmie's Chick Shack for $12.50 at Daytonas and the doors open at 8pm! There are usually tons of people at their shows so be prepare to mix and mingle! Live Alien Broadcast are opening up for JCS so get there early to check them out! WHAT A GREAT TIME I HAD!!!! WOW....each time I see them, it's better than the last time! I got there kinda late as usual and only caught the last two songs from Live Alien Broadcast's set before JCS came on. The lead singer was really sick with the flu from LAB but they performed so that's way cool. Their guitarist was really good and I remember standing behind him in the crowd at the last JCS show at Daytonas!! There were people video taping JCS and I'm sure I was on camera a few times....hahhahaha...me and my drunk self....probably not a pretty picture...hahahha. I might be able to get a copy of one of the bootleg videos from last night from these guys I met....then I'll really be seeing what I was doing all through the show cuz I was right up front. There were tons of people there and of course, the crowd was totally rowdy which is way cool. I love it when people are into the music instead of just standing there. I don't think you'd have a choice if you're in the first 8 rows of action....the pit is crazy but I love it!! Back To January 1999 Calendar |
