Wow, another crazy day- I wonder how many more of them there will be. Yesterday finished well- I met a few more cool people while sorting out my accomodation etc., most of whom were French. No idea why.
My room is lovely- laminate flooring, spacious... actually, VERY spacious. I have 4 wardrobes and 3 12foot shelves to fill. It seems that Swedish kids can and do basically move here instead of going to and from home- their rooms basically move with them. I have 3 books, so needless to say, my shelves look pretty empty!
Was SO tired after a long day yesterday that I went to bed at just after 10pm. Fortunately, bed is lovely and I slept until 7am when I had to get up with a fresh head to sort out my hectic schedule. First Swedish lesson at 9am which went better than I expected- I didn't really flounder at all, which isn't too bad, considering the class is mainly made up of Danes. I don't understand a word they're saying when they speak Swedish. Possibly less than when they're speaking Danish!
Had lunch with 1/2 dozen of them (their English is more comprehensible) then sorted out banking, student unions, toilet roll/shampoo shortage, etc.
Went to a student union for the evening, met even more cool people, including a few Brits, and had a few öls
Doesn't seem too exciting, but it is when you're meeting new people, conversing in 3 languages and finding your feet in a new country.
Lies I have exposed today:
Swedes are no more fashionable than anyone else.
Swedes can be very easy to get to know
In August, at least, Sweden is basically like England but greener and everything seems to work.
Swedish trains are no more punctual than English ones.
I'm actually not too bad at speaking French outside a classroom setting.
I'm actually not too good at speaking Swedish outside a classroom setting.
