Rich needed to do homework alot for school and Rob was having a baby with my sister Yasmine. It was time to seperate. One night in San Fransisco, I was at a club called the"Trocedero" seeing a band I knew called Limp. John Wilkie comes up to me and goes,"Hey, I know you from Hot Dog on a Stick!."
And yes I DID work there for 4 years and it was cool intell the end. I got fired their because I came in with blue hair. Anyways, I asked him if he knew of a bass player that wants to play. He goes,"I play bass foo.." So I said, "les do dis!
Late 1997
So during this period I was jamming with this guy named Will. We met at a Mystic Rage show in Sept.97. And we all got together at Dave Carbons house. Dave is also in a band with Will called "Carbon"(busy little fucker).
May 1998
Debris played the Whisky in Los Angeles. A lot of problems circled around John because of money. We got pissed at him for it but we could see that he was'nt happy anymore. We really didnt even speak for two months. He was just flaking. We asked him if he still wanted to record with us but he said he was busy working at Chilis. So I kept running into our old bass player Rich. Rich wanted back so we said sure. Hes been working out GREAT!!! So from that point on, you know us as Debris.
Late 1998
Gavin played with Green Day on national TV. According to Gavin of Debris, Mike Dirnt snuck him in into the MTV live broadcast "Live from the 10 spot" at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. During the show Mike Dirnt broke his nose with his own bass guitar and Billie happended to see him in the frontrow. This is Gavin's second time playing with Green day. Back in December, Billie pulled up Gavin at one of the Filmore shows. Gavin ended up playing 3 songs with Green Day. Might be doing stuff with Green Day in the future.
October 1998
After constant bullshit by band members, Debris finally released "From Someplace Special". If you dont got it, buy it fucker!!!.
November 1999
More band member drama so nothing really got done from October 1998 til November of 1999. Gavin got a job at Tower Records and started working with Ryan Young. They talked about punk rock and shit all day long because there was nothing to do at work. We talked him into playing bass because thats what we needed. He had the same characteristics as Gavin: skinny, weird and spikey hair. They wrote songs and Ryan started singing some leads.
October 2000
Debris with Gavin, Ryan & Will wrote more songs and practiced like crazy. It took almost a year to get it right and the time payed off. They released "I've seen em on Gilman St" which was put out on Dexter Records. A small record label that had an eye on the band for a while. That same month Debris got distribution from Mayhem Entertainment. Putting Debris product in all Bay Area stores including Rasputins, Tower Records, Streetlight Records, Sam Goodies and many other stores around the bay. In November, Debris had another big blow. Will Garcia QUIT the band after 3 years of jamming. This left Debris in a big ass rut. Ryan comes up to Gavin and goes, "Gavin, I found a cool drummer". Ryan and their new drummer Alvaro (a native of Hayward) talked about punk rock for about an hour or something and Ryan goes, "Wanna play drums fo our group"? So, he joined on in. His first show was live on "KCRH 89.9FM" from Hayward. Debris will have show info soon so check out the "show" page. For the future debris is releasing another EP on a record label from Livermore. Debris WILL promote the shit out of this record so keep looking for them.
