We go snorkeling for a little over an hour. That was nice.. I have some pictures of that but I havent gotten my film developed yet. Then we go on a lovely dune buggy ride. Now, everything in Cozumel is in Spanish. I'm the only one in our little group  that knows Spanish.I'm sitting in the back seat of the dune buggy with Marie and Alicia with my mom driving like a maniac at 80mph. or so we think because the spedometer was in km. Now, I wear contacts.. I'm blind without them. at the estimated speed of 80, no roof of the vehicle I was in, and the head from being so close to the equator....hum... lets just say, i didn't get to see much of the landscape for the fear of having my contacts dry out. What also is quite funny, is that I'm the only one who can read the signs on the side of the road. I'm the only one with my eyes closed the majority of the ride.
My mom asks me, "Amanda, what's that sign say?" I reply, "All vehicles and motorists keep right." Sounding shocked she says "Cool! We have our own interperter on board!"
5 minutes later....
"Amanda, what's that sign say?"
"I duno, I can't read it."
"Why not?"
"My eyes are closed."
"Why are your eyes closed?"
"Cause my contacts are drying up."
"GREAT! The one person who can read the language incase we get lost, can't even open her eyes! GREAT!"
So my mom puts the pedal to the metal. A huge truck gets infront of us so we can't see which direction the guide is going. We are about half a mile behind the truck when the truck slows down to go over braided rope (speed bump) laying across the road. My mom makes no intention of slowing down. We get very close to teh truck when my Aunt Marge (passenger) screams "STOP!!"  My mom slams on the breaks. Going from 80-0 in like 2 seconds really does some damage on the car seats. Everyone flung forward taking the backseat with them. That little dune buggy has excellent breaks.it stoped dead as soon as she put on the breaks. My aunt screams, "STOP TAILGAITING!" So from then on my mom stays a very long distance away from the person infront of her.
An hour or so later, we FINALLY get to the beach. It's very beautiful. White sand, blue water, colorful fishies.. It was beautiful. We are fed authentic Mexican food, and allowed an hour to swim and look around.
We get back in the dune buggys where as we're leaving, the people infront of us drive into a tree. That was some real humor. We go to the little spot where the guides would tell us the history of the island and thats where this next picture is taken. Pretty huh?
Next stop: Pee-Pee Station
You were thinking of something else, wern't you? It's ok.. so was everyone else on the trip.
