Magazine Said:
While they initially seemed like a bad joke with a grubby punchline, HLAH have undoubtedly become one of New Zealand's most important bands, who will leave a sizeable imprint on this decade's local zeitgeist.

Their fourth album consolidates everything that they've achieved thus far - heavy grooves, inventive explorations into sound texture, wildman rock-outs and the sting of a twisted, slightly unsavoury sense of humour - into an explosively cohesive album that has potential crossover written all over it, without giving an inch of compromise.
Casting their net wider, HLAH's customary manic live hyperactivity - still in furious evidence on 'Hatemail', 'Mr Bastard' and 'Two Hells' - is tempered by less incendiary devices, like a loop-driven Delta groove on 'Maharaja' and a psychedelic hip hop hybrid for 'Juicy Lucy', but that's not to say there's any identity crisis occurring. In fact, HLAH IV is the band at their most focussed and the clear notion of who they are has allowed great leaps forward, from the differing songwriting styles of Nigel Regan and Tom Watson, to the locked-in, ensemble playing of the band. Even when Beazley comes on sneery and bilious like the Jesus Lizard's David Yow on 'Good Advice', or when they veer into totally unfamiliar calm waters on 'Make Way for the Blind', there's a distinct HLAH tang that can't be disguised.
The chainsaw that opens the album and graces the sleeve has nothing on the smoking roar and cutting power of Are You Gonna Kiss It Or Shoot It and it'll leave nothing but kindling in its wake.

My Deux Cents:
My Favourite songs on the albulm are 'Mr Bastard' and 'College Rock'. The albulm is a good addition to HLAH's ever-improving list of albulms. A good effort with the added bonus of a smutty theme in almost every song. The albulm also includes a crappy(experimental) hidden track, but who cares when theres fifteen good unhidden tracks, theres also some (hidden or not) dialogue on wet rubber (the crude Dutchman), and Make Way for the Blind (something about a naked chick?) to look out for.
"Grubby punchline" ????????????
