Chapter Five

“Oh my god!” Scott, Clint, Dave and Bob ran up the stairs as a plate crashed to the floor. When they made it to the kitchen, Sheena and Becky were huddled in the corner.

“What happened?” “Dave cried, running to the girls. Scott ran to them as well, while Bob and Clint looked around the kitchen. A plate was shattered in the middle of the floor.
“We saw him. We saw Sid.” Becka managed to choke out.
“You saw him?” Scott cried.
“He was at the kitchen window! We were washing the dishes, and it just showed up! It was creepy! We were so scared!” Sheena said.
“Oh my god. He’s after us.” Clint whispered.
“Guys, Look!” Bob yelled.
They all dashed into the basement.
One of the windows is broken, smashed into bits, just like the plate in the kitchen.
“We have to get out of here.” Declared Scott.
“Where could we go?” asked Clint.
“I don’t know.” Scott said. “All I know is that Sid is in the house, and he’s trying to harm us. How?”
“That, I can’t figure out.” said Bob.
“It’s still daylight…let’s go to the library for some research.” Said Dave.

The 6 of them ran out of the house and to the neighborhood library.
“You know, this is so similar to the TV show, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.” Said Sheena. “I wanna be Buffy!”
“If you’re gonna be Buffy, then I’m Willow.” Becka laughed.
“I wanna be Xander.” Dave said.
“Go for it, cuz Xander is an airhead.” Scott laughed.
Dave laughed. “…Wait a minute!”
Everyone laughed.

“Here we go.” Bob said as they reached the library.
“Let me find the librarian.” Clint said, walking around. “There he is.”
Scott, Clint, Bob, Dave, Becka and Sheena walked towards the librarian.
“Excuse me?” Clint tapped the tall man on the shoulder. The man turned around.
“Yes?” he asked.
“Wow, he looks kinda like Giles.” Sheena whispered to Becka.
“Ok, ok. Enough of the Buffy stuff.” Bob said.
“Excuse me?” The librarian asked.
“Sorry. Could we look at the old newspapers, please?” asked Scott.
“Sure. What year?”
The gang looked at each other. “What year?” Scott asked.
“Oh my god, I don’t know!” the others cried.
The librarian laughed.
“We’re so sorry, Sir.” Said Becka.
“No, please call me Kyle.”
“You know, Kyle, you don’t look that old.” Commented Dave.
“DAVE!” the others cried.
Kyle laughed. “That’s ok. I’m 20 years old.”
“That young?” Becka asked.
Kyle smiled.

Scott thought back about his dream. ‘What did Lara mean? What is The Curse?’
“Kyle?” he asked. “Where are the books about curses and stuff?”
“Curses?” the others laughed.
“Sure!” Kyle smiled. “Come with me.”
Scott and the gang followed Kyle to the back of the library. A young girl was there, sitting at one of the tables.
“Hey Hailey, how are you doing?” Kyle asked the girl.
“Fine bro, thank you.” Hailey replied.
“You two are brother and sister?” Becka asked.
“No, I’ve known Hailey since she was born, and I’m like a big brother to her.”
“Nice to meet you, Hailey.” Sheena said. “I’m Sheena. This is Becka, Bob, Dave, Clint and Scott.”
“Hi.” Hailey said.
“Well, gotta get back to work. See you later.” Kyle walked back to the counter.
“Scott, why do you want a book about curses?” Dave asked.
“Because Lara said that the dummy is a curse. Actually, she said, ‘The Curse.’ Then ‘The Dummy’
“Lara?” the others asked.
“She’s the girl from my dream. She was with the dummy.”
“The girl with long blond hair that’s pulled into a braid?” asked Dave.
“Yeah.” Scott said, picking up a book.
“Like her?” Hailey showed Scott a small black and white photograph.
Scott’s face turned what and dropped the book.
“Oh my god.” Scott whispered. “That’s her. That is the girl from my dreams. That is Lara.”
