Looking into his soft chocolate brown eyes, I sighed for I knew I was deeply in love. Running my fingers through his long golden locks, a glint of sparkle caught my eye. Peering down it was his single diamond earring, so pretty in the evening sun. Suddenly his hands took mine and he said slow soft words. His cute pungent nose moves up and down as he spoke. Then my gaze drifted to his lips. Full and beautiful in the summer. He stopped talking and leaned closer to me, I didn't move for I could only have dreamed of what came next. Our lips touched slowly but surely, I heard a loud bell tolled the hour. 9... 10... 11... 12... 13... 14... Wait 14?! I opened me eyes to reveal my horrible alarm clock ringing on and on and on. I hit the clock with a great force. It stopped. I awoke and removed myself from my bed. I slipped on my cerulean blue tube top, my white flared pants and my suede platform shoes; and skipped downstairs for breakfast.
When I arrived at school Zac, my best friend and the guy in my dream, greeted me as usual by hitting me on the head.
"Hi Hil, you ready for the grad?" he asked.
"Yeah of course. Like your outfit... it's.... so.... Spunky!" He was wearing a beige T-shirt and multicolored pants with skateboard shoes. I thought he look very handsome, but didn't want to say it out loud.
"Gee, thanks... " He smiled as he said that and we walked into homeroom together.
"Maurice Abernathy, Warren Bindon Jennifer Booker, Lenna Decart, Chris Dake, Hilary Dechert, Zachary Hanson, Emily Jonquils, Lisa Looter, Michael Liu, Kristy Masters, John Numerous..." Mrs. Loony called out our names for role call.
Simultaneously we answered 'Here!' the bell then sounded and we changed classes. We all changed to our normal classes. In Social studies, Kristy and Lisa sit behind me. They are two of my worst enemies. Kristy is a jerk who always picks on me for no apparent reason, and Lisa is her "henchman". They were talking and I kinda over heard them.
"You know that stupid kid... um... Taylor's brother?" Kristy started.
"Yeah, Zac?"
"Yeah that's his name... I heard that he's available..."
"Really? What are you gonna do... oh!"
"Exactly. He and Maurice, who is which I've heard you have a crush on, pass the school store every day at 12:30. I think today is the day I'm gonna ask him out. You should ask that Maurice kid before that ugly Emily does."
"OK, I'll meet you at the school store at 12:30."
Just then the bell rang I had to go to options now. But before that, I had to warn Zac. I ran down the hallway to
Zac's locker but I was already too late. So I continued running until I crashed into Warren.
"What the fu... oh sorry..."
"Huh? Oh it's OK Hil. Where are you running to?"
"I'm looking for Zac, have you seen him?"
"No, but I think he has science this class."
"Thanks."
I continued running, when I looked back Warren looked kinda sad. It was almost as though he thought I was going to ask Zac out. AS IF! Weeeellllll, maybe I would if the right time came up. When I reached the Science lab I knocked on the door. Mr. Lawrence came to the door and looked angry because I had interrupted his class. I looked sad and told him that I had to speak to Zac because his Great Grandmother died. When Mr. Lawrence ask why I had come, I told him that our Great Grandparents were married. Just then I heard an explosion come from inside the room. Mr. Lawrence let Zac step outside. Zac came to the door with his face covered in soot. Apparently it was his lab that blew up. I told Zac the whole story, well except the parts that he knew and the dream.
"Ack! I hate Kristy, I'll turn her down."
"No, she'll notice something, here wanna come to my house to play Play Station that day? That way just tell her you have plans and you won't have to lie."
"Why can't I just lie to her?"
"Oh, come on you know you suck at lying. You blush every time you do."
"I DO NOT!" He blushed. "Oh fine. Sure that sounds great. Thanks, you're the best friend a guy could have." As he said that he kissed me on the cheek. I nearly died.
"Now look sad, your great grandmother died." And he walked into class with his sad soot covered face. I skipped down the hallway to Drama class.
"Oh John."
"Now Mary, don't worry I'll be brave."
"Oh John!"
"Cut! Mary I want you to put more emphasis on the 'Oh John!' Part ok? Ahh, Caitlin how good of you to join us."
I simply nodded and gave her my late slip. She assigned me to the role of the Hero. Great big role, lots of work. Oh well. I couldn't stop thinking about Zac. Zac and Kristy, Ewwww. Oh god Maurice! I forgot to warn him! Ack! I and paged Zac with the message. Hopefully he got it. I also paged Emily because she and Maurice were already an item.
Finally lunch time came, Emily and I ran to find Zac and Maurice. When we found them, they were talking to Warren who was happy being accepted into a "popular" group. We all ate lunch together and then TOGETHER we walked past Kristy and Lisa they pulled Maurice and Zac away and out on their flirt faces. Zac told Kristy that he had plans but Kristy told him to cancel them. He ignored her. I don't know what happened after that because Vicky ran up to us and started flirting with Warren. I think they would be a cute couple. When I stopped daydreaming over how cute Victoria and Warren would be together I noticed Zac and Kristy had run off. NOOOOO! Oh well. Hey cool Victoria just asked Warren out. Awww! She just kissed him on the cheek.
The sun beat down on my face as i lay on my front lawn. I lay there watching the tree and listening the to the birds. Their songs were wonderful. All of a sudden a stream of water soaked me. When I came to, I saw Zac standing there looking proud with his "new" water gun. I ran past him, to the garage, leaving him startled. I grabbed the hose and soaked him head to toe. We ran around the yard like we were little kids again. Finally he ran out of water and we sprawled, soaking wet, on the grass laughing.
"That was Fun!: I said trough panting and laughter.
"Yeah it was. I felt like a little kid, not like I am about to graduate from grade 12! You know..." His expression changed dramatically. He leaned closer. For some stupid reason I looked away and asked him:
"So, what happened with 'KRISTY'." Totally ruining the moment.
"She wanted to go to the grad with me. But I can't. I already have plans." He obviously saw my expression change because he said, "Will you stop being so damn stubborn?!" And he kissed me, then he left. Leaving me with a dumb expression on my face, soaking wet on my front lawn.
Time flew by. Before I knew it was lunch time the next day. I arrived at my locker. There was a note attached to a single long stemmed daisy, my favorite flower. I read the note. It said:
"Dear Hil,
I have loved your smile, eyes, laugh, everything since we met. Including that little face you make when you are mad or frustrated. Will you go to the Grad with me?
You may ask Pourquoi? Parce-que... Je t'aime, beacoup.
Zac."
Once I read the last part I nearly cried. I couldn't believe it. I ran to find out if this note was true.
"Hey! Zac! Did you write this?"
"Yep. You wanna go or what?" He said in a bubbly way.
"But isn't KRISTY going to be there?" I snapped, it still hadn't registered that he loved me, not Kristy.
"Yeah, so...."
"So..."
"So I'll pick you up at 7:30." And he ran down the hall not waiting for my response.
"Ok, see you then?..." I said out loud to myself.
Again, the afternoon when quite quickly. Before I knew it, it was 7:30. And, man, he was prominent.
Grad, to begin with was really boring. Then it was the dance. Everyone went crazy unlike at the grad nine grad which I had to go to with my little brother Drew. the first slow song of the night came on. Kristy used her powers to "con" Zac into dancing with her. She sure did hold him tight. You know it's funny, I think I'm falling in love with... my best friend! The boy i have known since grade one. I heard The moffatts come on, my favorite band. It was just coincidence that it was my favorite song, "Love." Zac walked over to me, despite Kristy's please to keep dancing with her. He asked me to dance.
We began dancing. He whispered the words in my ear.
"Cause deep in my heart I knew. That it was, love. And it turns me on like when the sun goes down and the moon comes up. Oh sweet, sweet love. Like no other mane has been touched by this simple process of... Love."
He saw my eyes, they were close to tears. He must have remembered that Andrew sang that song to me... right before he died. Zac began to hold me tighter and tighter, whispering:
"Don't worry, Hil. It's all right. You're with me now. Don't be sad... you're so beautiful when you smile... don't frown damn it! You'll get wrinkles before you're 20!"
This time I cried, from happiness.
Before I knew it grad was over. I had just graduated from high school. Zac offered me a ride home. I happily accepted. He drove me home and walked me to my front door. It was really late and the sun was about to rise, so we stayed outside to watch it rise.
I looked into his soft chocolate brown eyes, I sighed for I knew I was deeply in love. This was all so familiar. I ran my fingers through his long golden locks, a glint of sparkle caught my eye. I peered down it was his single diamond earring, so pretty in the morning sun. It was all happening so perfectly. Soon he would take my hands and speak. He did. It WAS my dream. I guess dreams are visions of the future. We kissed. I waited for the alarm to go off. It didn't. We parted. I fell asleep with a "floating" sensation.
A phone call awoke me the next day. It was my mother saying that she was urgently needed at work and couldn't go to the fair with me. Now i know i'm a little old to be going to the fair but I still love it. I turned on my radio. Sarah McLachlan's A song for a winter's night was playing. It was about 10 in the morning and that meant it was Bands on demand on 106.2.
"That was A song for a winter's night by Sarah McLachlan requested by Hilary Dechert. Thanks Hil, that's my fave song too! Our next song was requested by Zac Hanson. He wants me to dedicate it to.. Well, Hilary. It's a song I have never heard of. It is called Until you loved me by The Moffatts. Sorry, Zac but we don't have that song... let's go to the phones and take a request. Hello?" The announcer said.
"Hi. Look in the envelope Zac sent you. You'll find a tape." *Click* The phone hung up.
"Huh? Well ok. I'll just look in the envelope. Weird, there is a tape here with the song Until you loved me by The Moffatts! Ok so here you go Zac and Hilary."
The song came on. I thought it was really cool. All of a sudden the door bell rang. I ran downstairs, the mail was in. There was an envelope with a tape in it. It was Until you loved me. The note with it said:
"I figured you'd like this.
Zac."
Hmm, weird. Zac had known about a new Moffatt song before anyone else. But How?
