“You know what I couldn’t believe?” Melissa asked, carrying her thick Science 9 textbook. It was the last day of school before Spring Break, and everyone was clearing a part of their lockers.
“What’s that you couldn’t believe?” I asked, carrying my own Science 9 textbook.
“Just the fact that Justin Dale asked me out. I mean, you know how much I had a crush on him right? It’s unreal.” Melissa jumped up and down.
“You must be so happy!”
“Am I ever!” She cried. “I’m so happy, I feel like I could BURST and spread happiness all over the world!”
“Well, something good happened to me too.” I grinned.
“What’s that?” asked Melissa excitedly.
“Grace Hanna.” I replied. Grace was this really, really pretty girl, with strawberry blond hair and forest green eyes.
Melissa screamed. “She asked?” she cried, her eyes shining with excitement.
“Yup!” I grinned like an idiot.
Melissa threw her arms around me and started to cry. “That’s great, Dave!” she hugged me tighter. “I’m so happy for you!” she wiped her tears.
“Then why are you crying?” I returned the hug.
“I’m not crying sad tears.” Melissa informed. “They’re tears of happiness.”
***End Flashback***
“Well, I’m glad that’s over.” Calvin said, adjusting the collar of his black T-shirt. Hmm…That shirt looks good on him. Remind me to ask him to borrow that shirt…
“No more Melissa and Calvin business, right?” Andie asked, holding Clint’s hand. Andie and Clint are a really cute couple. They’re really gentle and soft to each other, and they’re the only couple out of all of us who uses pet names.
“Well, I’m glad that we all found someone this summer.” Karin said, hugging Bob. Her bright blond hair falling around her shoulders in waves. They shone in the bright sunlight. I swear, her hair is her best feature.
“Yeah.” Calvin said, wrapping his arms around his new girlfriend, Stephanie. Stephanie is an average height girl, with light brown hair and deep blue eyes.
“Me too.” Said Dani, her arm resting around Scott’s waist. Around her wrist, was an ID bracelet. It was engraved: Scott and Dani 4EVER.
We were all sitting on the grass in my front yard. The sky was a nice shade of blue, and the sun was shining brightly and happily. A soft breeze also filled the air. We watched as the kids ran passed us, but we didn’t care. All of us were in our own little word, with that special someone.
I looked at Clint. He and Andie were sitting real close and whispering sweet words to each other. Bob was singing softly to Karin, and she has her eyes glued to his’. Scott and Dani were kissing softly, under our Willow Tree. Calvin…Well, Calvin and Stephanie were playing a fun game of basketball. How? Well, every time the one person gets the ball, the other one would tickle the other one to death. It’s pretty fun to watch, by the way.
Melissa’s head was rested against my shoulders, and her arms were around my waist. It felt as if they belong there.
I couldn’t believe that Melissa is mine. I held her tight against me, as if nothing in the world could keep her away from me.
I felt a tear roll down my cheek.
Melissa looked up and wiped the tear away.
“Dave?” she asked softly. “Why are you crying?”
“Tears of happiness.” I answered, leaning down to capture her lips in mine.
