"Karin, I thought you said that, there was a family camping with us that had two boys and a girl. I never knew it was the Moffatts! This is too much for me. I have to sit down." They all laughed.
"Sorry Mel, I lied to you. You don't know how hard it was for me to keep this a secret. Every time I talked to you I wanted to tell you. The thing with you sitting beside them on the plane was a setup. I wanted you to meet them before we went camping together. You know how I wanted you to come on that bike ride with me?" I nodded my head, "They had just pulled in. We had it planned that when they get there that they circle by us once to tell us that their here, and then we leave, they settle, and then when we get back, you have a big surprise."
"It worked. It was the best surprise I ever had!" I exclaimed.
"Well now that that's all said and done. How are you guys?" she asked the Moffatts.
We all said hi and stuff to one another, when I remembered what I had said in the plane. I had to tell Karin about it. I pulled her aside. "Karin you're going to kill me. I didn't know that you knew the Moffatts, and Dave asked me which brother is your favourite, and I said that you liked Bob the best. And then Bob said, I thought it was a joke, but he said he would have to charm you with his looks. What if he likes you?"
"Sick! I know it's not your fault. Those stupid boys. I don't want to go out with Bob!" she whined.
"You never know, maybe Bob doesn't like you, but if he tries to be alone with you, I'll try to be close by so nothing can happen, and he can't say anything personal to you!"
"Thanks Mel, I like them as friends, but not any more than that."
A few minutes later Bob came by and asked, "Hey Karin do you want to go for a walk or something?"
"I'd like to, but I want to get our tent set up first, and then it's lunchtime. If you want you can help us set up the tent," Karin answered.
"Sure why not," he replied a little disappointed.
She couldn't rub him off every time he came to talk to her, so she included him in the conversation, like they were good buds, because they were. "So how was the last tour?"she asked.
"Oh, you know, travelling non stop, playing one concert to the next, which is fun because Scott always makes a fool out of himself with his dirty dancing. Meeting tons of girls, although, I must say none as pretty as you two, and signing thousands of autographs."
"I'm flattered, ‘none as pretty as you two.'" she imitated Bob. "I can understand Melissa being pretty, but you think me, a tall girl with ugly clothes, with a big nose and zits all over her face is pretty?" she said hot headedly.
"Oh yeah, well your clothes aren't ugly. If you think you are, I give you a lot o credit for finding nice clothes that fit you, since you always tell me how hard it is to find clothes long enough for you. Your hair is beautiful, and your blue eyes are always sparkling, and they're so funny when you're mad, like right now. Everyone has zits, have you taken a look at Scotts face? The girls love him. Why am I even talking about looks? It's the personality that counts! And you've got a killer personality," Bob stated angrily while trying to put up the tent, which didn't do him any good, the tent just fell down.
"Excuse me Bob, my personality sucks. I've been trying to change, and you're telling me it's good. Why are you saying such good stuff about me when you know it's not true. I though this was supposed to be a put down session," she yelled back which was the wrong answer.
Bob stopped what he was doing, and went over to face Karin, and looked her in the eyes, "Well miss, everyone I know hates to be put down, and I know for a fact you hate it too, and everything I've said about you is true. Right Melissa?" He turned to me and asked. I nodded my head.
"Is not,"denied Karin.
"Is too," he argued.
"Is not."
"Is too."
"Is not."
"Is too."
"Is not."
Then they both stopped the argument and stared at each other. I was scared. I didn't know what to do. Should I speak or not? I decided to keep quiet. After about 20 seconds, they did something unexpected, they hugged, Bob spoke out, "so how was our acting?"
"Let me get this straight, everything you guys did was a big joke?"
"I guess you can call it a joke. Whenever Bob and I get into an argument that's minor, and we have an audience. We always get into a big discussion, and then hug at the end, which shows we've forgiven each other. It kinda looks like something that would happen in the movies," Karin answered.
"Okay, you guys, that performance was good. I admit you had me there," I answered. ‘An odd bunch of friends they are,' I thought to myself, ‘they're made for each other. And why can Bob do such a good acting job here but on T.V. he's such a bad actor.' (*authors note: no offence to Bob there, but from what I've seen of his acting, it's not that good.)
Lunch time rolled around, and I sat down to eat. Dave took the spot beside me, and we got into a conversation that lasted about three hours. That guy can talk. It was like we had known each other for years. "So tell me about Bob and Karin," I said.
"They're the closest of friends. He gets along best with her out of the four of us."
"I can tell. Those two are made for each other," I answered.
"Did they do their little argument movie thing for you?"
"Yeah, but Karin's really mad at you Dave."
"Why?" he asked.
"Well you know on the plane yesterday, you asked me which one of you Karin likes the best, and I said Bob? Well Karin doesn't like Bob the way Bob thinks she likes him, and she's all worried now that if her and Bob are alone, he might ask her out and she doesn't want to go out with him. So I told her I'd watch out for her, if Bob tries to get into a serious conversation with her then, I'd be close by so he can't say anything personal. But the thing is, now I think those two are perfect for each other and now I don't know what to do," I told him my dilemma.
"I see your point. Do you think Bob likes her that way?"
"I don't know. I thought you would know."
"I don't," replied Dave.
"I'll ask Bob tonight. I just wish I could change Karin's mind."
"Yeah, I'll talk to Clint and Scott and maybe we can cook up a plan to get them together."
