Always Will Be Together
Part one:

Melissa and Alice were sitting in the ice cream parlor, when 2 guys their age walked into the parlor.
“And then, the beaker overflowed! Everyone knows that baking soda and vinegar don’t mixhello!” Melissa interrupted herself.
“What?” asked Alice.
“Check out the two guys coming this way.” Melissa whispered to her friend.
Alice turned around and her jaw dropped. She and Melissa lived there their whole lives and they had never seen such cute guys in their whole lives…well, except for Justin Timberlake, but that’s another story.
“The one with the blond streaks…” sighed Alice.
“Al, get a grip!” Melissa laughed, punching playfully on her friend’s arm. “I like the guy with messy brown hair.”
Alice looked around. The whole parlor was full and there were no empty seats…except for the two seats beside Melissa and Alice.
The two boys brought their milkshakes, and looked around for a place to sit.
Melissa, being gutsy, waved them over. The boys exchanged small smiles and walked over to them.
“Mel! What are you doing?” hissed Alice.
“Shh!” Melissa shushed her. She looked up at the 2 boys standing in front of her. “Would you like to join us?” she asked with a smile.
The guys smiled back. “Sure.” The guy with the messy brown hair said, and sat down beside Melissa. The guy with long hair and blond streaks sat down beside Alice.
“So,” began Melissa. “Are you guys new? We’ve never seen you here before.”
“Yeah, we’re new.” Replied the guy beside Alice.
“What are your names?” asked Alice.
The guy beside Melissa spoke up this time. “My name is Dave and that’s Scott.”
“I’m Melissa.”
“I’m Alice.”
“Nice to meet you.” Said Dave politely.
“So, where do you guys live?” asked Alice.
“We’re brothers,” said Dave and Scott Moffatt, “and we live on Timber Street.” Replied Scott.
“You do?” Asked Melissa. “So do we!”
“What, are you two sisters?” asked Scott.
“No, but we look alike, don’t we? We’re best friends and we live by each other. There’s a house between us.” Melissa smiled as she twirled her wavy dark hair around her finger.
“Do you have any other brothers or sisters?” asked Alice.
“Yeah, we have 2 more brothers. Actually, I’m a triplet. Scott’s the oldest, then comes Clint and Bob, who are identical triplets and then there’s me, the fraternal triplet.” Said Dave.
“Really? That’s so cool!” Melissa said as Dave and Scott slurped the last of their milkshakes.
“So, do you have any brothers and sisters?” asked Scott.
“Yeah, I have two older brothers, Andrew and Sean.” Said Melissa.
“I have an older brother.” Said Alice. “Brendan.”
“Do you have girlfriends?” Melissa asked them.
“Nope.” Dave and Scott replied. “How about you?” asked Scott.
“Nope. We used to.” Replied the girls.
“Cool.” Dave said, looking at his watch. “Um, do you girls wanna meet my mom and brothers?”
“How come they didn’t want to come here with you?” asked Alice.
“Because they wanted to go to the pack to meet some girls, but they should be back now.” Replied Scott.
“Well, we know most of the girls here. The one who goes to the nearby park…which are girls, ages 13-15 are…Samantha, Louise, Rebecca, Jennifer, Casey and Tiffany. That’s all.” Said Melissa.
“Whoa, small neighborhood.” Commented Scott.
“Yeah.” Alice said sheepishly.
“So, are you girls ready?” asked Dave.
“Yup!” the girls stood up and smooth down their outfits. Melissa was wearing a light blue sleeveless dress with a white see through shirt over it. To make her outfit look less dressy, she wore ankle socks and her blue sketchers shoes. Alice was wearing a pale yellow and green dress that brings out the glow in her face. She was wearing sandals with her dress.
“You two look nice.” Commented Dave.
“Thanks.” The girls blushed.
They were walking passed the park when…
“Melissa! Alice!” somebody shouted.
Two boys were walking towards them.
“Oh no.” Melissa and Alice whispered. They took a step towards the two boys.
“Jordan, Mike, we already told you. It’s over between us.” Said Melissa.
“Melissa, I love you.” Said Jordan.
Melissa sighed. “If you loved me, you wouldn’t cheat on me. You wouldn’t take advantage of me. You wouldn’t try to take over my life.”
“Same here, Mike.” Said Alice.
The girls turned to leave when they felt a strong grip on their arms. The girls turned back around and saw Jordan and Mike gripping their arms.
“Oww!” Alice cried.
“Let go!” cried Melissa, trying to twist her way free.
“No!” they cried.
Scott and Dave were standing to the side, watching them, but they couldn’t take it anymore.
“Stop it!” shouted Scott.
“Make me!” replied Jordan. He loosened his grip slightly.
The was all Melissa needed, she gave a swift kick at Jordan and he went down (hehe! Don’t mess with a girl!). She kicked Mike, and Alice broke free of his grip.
The girls ran to Dave and Scott, who were impressed, and gave them a comforting hug.
Mike and Jordan recovered and ran back to Melissa and Alice.
“Go away!” cried Melissa.
“No!” they shouted.
“Leave them alone!” shouted Scott and Dave, each wrapping a protective arm around Alice and Melissa.
Jordan shoved Melissa, and Scott lunged and tackled him onto the ground. Melissa and Alice huddled around Dave. Melissa was angry. Angry at Jordan and Mike for trying to take total control of them. She ran to Mike and shoved him onto the floor too. After a while, Jordan and Mike went away, and Melissa and Alice hugged Scott and Dave. “Thanks.” They said.
“Whoa,” breathed Dave. “You are one tough girl.”
“I have 2 older brothers, remember?” Melissa reminded them. They walked down Timber Street. “We beat each other up all the time, but don’t tell my brothers that, they need an image to protect.”

Melissa saw Brendan, Andrew, Sean and two other guys she doesn’t recognize playing basketball on the driveway. She ran up to them. “Hey guys!” she said.
“Hey Mel.” Said Andrew, Sean and Brendan. “Hey Alice.” The other two guys didn’t say anything. In fact, they were rather shy.
“Hey guys.” Said Alice. “Who are your friends?”
“This is Clint and Bob Moffatt.” Replied Andrew.
“Clint and Bob?” asked Melissa.
“Yeah. They’re our brothers.” Dave said.
“Oh!”
“So Melissa, what about your friends?” asked Sean.
“This is Dave and Scott Moffatt.”
“Moffatt again?” asked Brendan.
“Yea. There’s four of us.” Said Clint.
“Get a clue Brendan, they said they’re brothers.” Alice rolled her eyes.
“Um, Melissa, Alice, wanna go meet our mom?” asked Dave.
“Sure.” They replied.
“Ooh! Our sisters’ got a boyfriend!” Andrew, Sean and Brendan sang teasingly.
“Shut up!” Melissa and Alice shouted at them. They turned to Clint and Bob. “Nice to meet you. I’m Melissa and this is Alice. Did you meet anyone new today?”
“Yeah, we met two girls. Their names are Louise and Tiffany.” Replied Bob, pushing his bangs out of his face.
“Do you know them?” Clint asked.
“Yeah. They’re really nice.” Melissa replied with a smile, and followed Dave and Scott inside. Clint and Bob followed them.
“Do you want something to drink?” Dave asked offering them a coke.
“Sure.” They replied, taking the cans.
“Hey Dave? What about us?” asked Clint.
“Get it yourself!”

Ding-Dong!

“I’ll get it.” Melissa said. She opened the door and there stood Tiffany and Louise. Louise’s blond hair shone in the light. She was wearing a pair of overall shorts with a white baby tee underneath. Tiffany was wearing white jeans with a black shirt.
“Melissa? What are you doing here?” asked Tiffany.
“Well, hello to you too.” Melissa said with a laugh.
“Is this where Clint and Bob lives?” asked Louise.
“Yeah, come on in.” Melissa said, opening the door wider. “Bob! Clint! Tiffany and Louise are here!”
Bob and Clint ran to the door.
“Hey Tiffany.” Clint said with a smile.
“Hey.” Tiffany said shyly.
“Hey Bob.” Louise said.
“Hey Louise.” Replied Bob.
Melissa went back into the kitchen to join Dave.
“I don’t think mom’s here.” Said Scott.
“Um, if you don’t mind, I’d like to know about your relationships with Jordan and Mike.” Dave said.
“Well Davey,” began Melissa, “The thing is like this. Jordan and I went out at the same time when Mike asked Alice out, so we double date all the time. Jordan started to get a little touchy and pushy, if you know what I mean,” Melissa continued. Dave and Scott nodded.
“And,” Alice cut in, “they started to take over our lives. They told us what to wear, and if we don’t listen to them, they hit us.”
“It doesn’t hurt, it’s just like a warning.” Said Melissa. “They don’t like it when we talk to guys and stuff. We broke up with them at the end of the year, and they’ve been after us again ever since.”
“The news about the break ups were huge.” Finished Alice.
“Wow. That’s quite a story.” Dave said, “but I must admit, that kick looked painful, but it was cool!”
“Well, I’ve taken self defense lessons.” Said Melissa.
“What about you?” Scott asked Alice.
“I didn’t take them. I was sick.” Alice said.
“Things are a bit quiet out there.” Scott said. “What are Clint and Bob doing?”
“The girls that they met, Louise and Tiffany came over.” Melissa said with a smile.
The four of them crept towards the kitchen door. They opened it a crack and heard ‘Invisible Man’ by 98 degrees playing. They opened the door and saw the four of them making out!
“Oh my god!” Dave screamed.
The couples sprang apart, red faced.
“Hi.” They said.
“Sorry,” Melissa, Scott, Dave and Alice said sheepishly, “we weren't expecting that.” They walked out the door to Melissa’s house.
“Continue!” Dave said with a laugh.
The couples continued to do what they were doing. (hehe!)

“Hey Mom! I’m home!” Melissa called.
“Mom’s not here!” Sean yelled.
“No need to yell!” Melissa yelled back.
“You’re yelling now!”
“Shut up!” Andrew yelled.
Alice, Dave and Scott started to laugh.
“So this is how you guys treat each other.” Dave said with a laugh.
“Yeah, every single day. Same with my brother.” Alice laughed.
“Andrew walked into the living room. “Oh Melissa, Alice, there’s two boys named Jordan and Mike and they were looking for you.”
“Great.” Melissa moaned.
“Kids! I’m home!” Melissa’s mother came into the house. She looked at Alice and the 2 Moffatts. “Oh! You have company. Hello Alice.”
“Hi Mrs. Bass. This is Dave and Scott.”
“Hello.” Mrs. Bass said with a smile.
“Nice to meet you.” Dave and Scott said, smiling.
“Let’s go to my room. I have something for you to use.” Melissa said, walking into her room. The others followed her.
Dave and Scott looked at the walls of Melissa’s room. “Whoa.”
The walls were covered with posters and pictures.
“Holy cow. You like *N Sync, don’t you?” Scott asked.
“Yeah,” Melissa replied sheepishly. “I also like 5ive, 98 degrees, No Authority, Boy Zone…you know, boy bands. I also like Britney Spears, Billie and B*Witched.”
Alice immediately walked over to the window seat. “This is the best part of her room, other than the stereo.” She looked out the window in the corner of her room. There was a balcony outside the window. Crawl out the window and you can step on the balcony. There’s also a set of stairs so you can get up and down. Through one window, you can see into a room in the Moffatt’s house. Through the other one is the back of the house. It’s a large field and then further back is a forest with a little stream.
Dave peered through the window. “Hey! That’s my room!” he laughed.
“And that means, my room is across from your room!” Scott said. Melissa went into her closet and took out a set of walkie-talkies. “Here you go. They’re my brothers', but they out grew them. Alice and I have another set.”
“Really? What about the telephone?” Dave asked.
“Oh yeah! Here’s my number.” Melissa said, scribbling her number on a piece of paper and shoving it in Dave’s hand.
The watch on Dave wrist beeped 6:00pm.
“We better go eat.” Dave said.
“Yeah, me too.” Alice said. She looked at Dave and Scott. “Do you two wanna go star watching tonight?”
“Sure.” They said. “9:00pm, field, right?”
“Right.” Melissa replied, and they left.
Melissa ate dinner with her family, grabbed an ice-cream sandwich and a magazine, crawled through the window, sat down on a chair and started to read and eat. She glanced out from her magazine and saw Dave changing out of his T-shirt. She smiled to herself. Melissa grabbed a flashlight on her window seat and shone the light through his window.
Dave’s window opened and Dave peeked out.
“Melissa! Hi!” he said.
“Nice show!” Melissa said laughing.
Dave blushed. “Um, it’s still early, do you want to go for a walk or something?” He called.
“I’ll tell you what, grab a flashlight and I’ll take you for a walk in the forest. Where’s Scott?”
“I couldn’t find him! I used Alice’s walkie-talkie, and no one answered, I used her own phone and no one answered either.”
“Oh well, I’ll take you anyway.” Melissa said, and crawled back into her room. She closed the shades, and she could hear Dave laughing. She changed into her blue jeans and green T-shirt. Melissa grabbed her flashlight and crawled through her window again and walked down the balcony stairs. Dave was waiting at the bottom, holding his flashlight with a grin.
“Hey Dave! Let’s go!”
Melissa and Dave walked across the field and into the forest. “Melissa, do you know where we’re going?” Asked Dave.
“Yeah, I’ve been here a million times Dave, by myself.” Melissa said.
“Any wild animals? Bears, for instance?” Dave asked.
“There could be.” Melissa grinned.
They walked down a path into a forest. Melissa accidentally tripped on a rock, but Dave grabbed her hand, so she didn’t fall. They walked in silence until they reached a small waterfall.
“Wow.” Dave breathed. “It’s beautiful.” He turned to Melissa, who was looking back at him. They leaned closer and kissed, under the stars by the waterfall. They pulled apart.
“Would you be my girlfriend?” Dave asked softly, looking into Melissa’s eyes.
“Yes.” She whispered, and they kissed again. (Aww! So romantic!) A little noise interrupted their kiss. They slowly pulled apart. They saw a figure across the stream.
“What’s that?” Dave whispered, taking Melissa’s hand, wrapping his fingers around hers.
“I don’t know.” Melissa whispered back. She shone her flashlight at the figure and saw Scott and Alice kissing!
Scott and Alice sprang apart.
“I guess we all have the same idea.” Alice said with a laugh.
“Congrats little brother!” Scott said.
“You too.” Dave glanced at his watch. “Well, it’s 9:00pm. Let’s go star watching.”
The couples held hands when they walked to the field. Melissa leaned on Dave’s chest and looked up at the stars. She looked over at Alice and Scott. They were in each other’s arms, lying on the grass.
At ten o’clock, they walked back into their houses, after a goodnight kiss, of course.

Melissa tossed and turned all through the night. She couldn’t sleep at all. She got out of her bed and peeked out the window. It was 2 o’clock in the morning, so Dave couldn’t be awake. She was about to climb back in bed when a light shone into her room from Dave’s room. Melissa went to the window and opened it. Dave was at his window seat, looking into her room. When he saw Melissa, his eyes light up.
“I can’t sleep.” Dave said into his walkie-talkie.
“Me neither.” Was Melissa’s response. “Wanna keep me company?” She asked.
Melissa watched as Dave unlatched the emergency ladder on the rim of his window and crawled out, and down the ladder. He walked over to Melissa’s balcony and climbed up.
“Scott’s over at Alice’s house. She has an emergency ladder too.” Dave said when he made it safely to Melissa’s room.
“Yeah, it’s our main way to go to each other’s house during the night.
Dave slept on the floor while Melissa slept in her bed.

The next day…

“Oh my god Melissa!”
Melissa woke up groggily. “Good morning.”
“Who is that boy?” cried her father.
“Dad, this is Dave, we couldn’t sleep, so he came over and talked to me. He was too tired to go back to his house, so he slept on the floor. NOTHING HAPPENED!” Melissa cried.
“I want you to go home!” screamed her father, looking at Dave. “Alice’s mom saw Alice and this boy Scott in her room. She is forbidden to see him. Her ladder was taken away, and will be in house arrest. So will you. We will not be moving, but I will be watching the four of you.” He looked at Dave. “I talked to your parents. They are very disappointed. Your ladder and Scott’s ladder will be taken down, and you will be forbidden to see each other. Now go!”
Dave gave one last look at Melissa’s tearstained face, and walked out of her room and back into his house.
“Dad!” Melissa screamed, tears streaming down her cheeks when she saw what happened to her balcony stairs. They were locked. “Dad, please don’t shut out my balcony.” She begged. “This is where I do my reading and my writing.”
Melissa’s father’s expression softened. “Ok, but stairs will be completely locked, and you’ll have no access with it. When you go outside, by yourself or with your friends, you will be with your Andrew, Sean, your mother, or myself. Understand?”
Feeling helpless, Melissa nodded.
