As of 2/21/04:
Once again Billy has made another explination as to why the Pumpkins broke up in winter of 2000. Originally citing his lack of fight against the "Britneys" of the world, he now places the blame of breakup solely on James Iha. Calling D'arcy a "mean spirited drug addict who refused to get help" and saying that after the last metro show James left the building without saying goodbye to his 13-year bandmates, Corgan seems to be on a bit of a rant. Will he renounce these statements in a few months as he tends to do? Time will tell...
As of 1/25/04:
According to his new official Website Billycorgan.com, our favorite band leader is working on his solo album! Yay!
As of 9/22/03:
Billy Corgan officially announced that his second band Zwan has broken up. The cause seems to be commitment reasons amongst the members, and Billy felt there was no family unity. As for his future plans, he has voiced an interest in a solo career, but for now he is showcasing his poetry in Chicago.
As of 7/9/03:

Until the reunion tour!!
As of 9/11/00:
The Pumpkins have released their final farewell album to the world. It's a 5 LP Set called "Machina II/ Friends and Enemies of Modern Music" and features outtakes and rare songs usually only performed live or not at all. But there's a catch: only 25 copies of the album were made by Billy's new record label and distrubuted to fans. The copies were free and those lucky few were encouraged to bootleg the albums so hopefully we can all get CDrs. There will be NO release of the album in any other form professionally. Watch the auctions!!!
As of 6/7/00:
Billy Corgan announced on Los Angeles radio that the Smashing Pumpkins are breaking up at the end of the year. They will finish their tour in Japan and several other countries before calling it quits. There is the possibility of future albums from left-over Machina songs, but it is unclear when they will be released. Billy has hinted at a solo career and is currently working with Lisa Marie Prestly on her debut album.
As of 3/27/00:

As of 11/25/99:
After much debate, the album has now been officially titled. Many names were flying about and for now the album seems to be titled "MACHINA/the machines of God." And is due Feb 29. Those lucky few who have heard it say it is, "hard-rocking and slightly psychadelic." Melissa Auf Der Mar will be touring, which will kick off in Europe in January.
As of 11/5/99:
The Pumpkins new album finally has a title. According to USA Today, the new album coming out in Februrary 2000 will be titled "Despiration." According to Kerrang! magazine, unidentified sources continue to confirm that Melissa Auf Der Mar had joined the Pumpkins. No comment yet from the band.
As of 11/4/99:
The Pumpkins have found new management under Ozzy Ozbourne's wife. Rumors continue to circulate that Melissa Auf Der Mar from Hole may replace D'arcy as a touring bassist and that possibly the Pumpkins' ex-bassist may have been fired by Billy due to her dreams of becoming an actress and missing practices. More coming.
As of 9/10/99:
D'arcy has left the Smashing Pumpkins. Reasons for her departure are not known, but it does not have to do with Jimmy's return and the band is not breaking up. Their new album is still due Feb 2000. Best of luck to our favorite bassist!
As of 9/8/99:
D'arcy seems to be missing in action in the recording of the Pumpkins new album. The bassist walked out of a cheap trick bash and according to inside sources, her participation in the new album has been "minimal" with James Iha playing bass parts. Billy recently commented that he was glad the band was back together, but are they really?
As of 8/24/99:
