This has
been a project a long time running. A sort of organic thing. It has no discernible
beginning, no foreseeable end.
It just is, and so it goes.
The music is the primary thing. Ideas for some of these tunes date back to the 70’s, when disco actually did suck. I mean, grown men putting banana’s in their pants… really! What you hear with Mel Vader was all recorded in the 90’s using a Tascam 424 4-track cassette recording device. Crude but effective. Most of it was recorded by myself. I did have some help from Derek and Kristin, drummer and vocalist respectively. Otherwise things get lonely in the old music room. The cat sure as hell doesn’t like the drums, though he does look puzzled as I play the guitar. Some vocals make him skittish, but more often than not he is content chewing my headphone cord. He's my sole companion during the long days of recording. Other recordings in the Historical section of the retreat are from a few bands I grew up performing with. The recordings are occasionally rough but always spirited. I hope to log more group compositions and other sources of music on this site. Perhaps Derek or Jeff will have some offerings soon. As for other aspects of this multimedia extravaganza, I have as of yet to devise them, so good luck to me. Please write me at melvader@yahoo.com and put in a request
to buy a CD copy so I can buy one of those Roland 16 track digital recorders. If I sell a thousand
copies I just might be able. Here are some miscelaneous ramblings: |
