Roddy
Woomble
Where
are you right now?
Travel inn, Newcastle 11.53pm. Sore Throat.
Describe
Idlewild in 5 words.
Flacid, dank, beautiful, noisy, bookend
What has been the best moment of '98 for the band?
Playing wise, Reading Festival. The first time I've seen 5,000 people
who like us in one place.
London Dingwalls in July was a great night too.
Which song are you most proud of and why?
Paint Nothing.
The first song we actually wrote in the studio, and the words are about
something special.
What
is 'Mince Showercap No.3 all about?
Nothing.
All 3 songs were made up on the spot. The 3rd one is the result of £40
wasted on toys and a free afternoon in Dublin.
Which gig have you enjoyed the most and why?
Again, probably Reading Festival, Dingwalls, or the Hope and Achor, last
year.
That was the first time any label came to see us.
What
was it like to tour with Ash?
Good, really nice people, good atmosphere, good live band.
If you were given the opportunity, who would you most like to play
alongside?
Probably someone like REM or Fugazi, then again i wouldn't because I'd
rather be in the audience.
Who are you currently listening to on your stereo?
Leonard Cohen. Although lately it's mainly been Bob Dylan, Robert Johson
and the new SEAM album.
Where do you get your energy from?
Fruit.
Do
you have a message for the fans?
Put down your pen and form a band.
Is
there anything else you would like to say?
I love the countryside.
Paint
Nothing is on Idlewild's 'Hope Is Important' Album on Food
