The Bottle and Cork (about 400 capacity)
Dewey Beach, Delaware
September 11th, 1998
I don't recall the exact setlist, but I was psyched to hear Pigeon Camera and I thought Nautical Disaster kicked ass. I took most of the pictures just to the left of Gord D (between him and Paul L)...I snapped quite a few and I think Gord was aware of it all as he looked directly at me once for one of the shots...I tried to be discreet. After the show we (my brother and I) did get to meet Gord Downie up on the outside balcony. We talked for ten minutes or so and I mentioned to Gord that I met him in Dallas, TX several years back at their show at Dallas City Limits and he seemed to recall the meeting. My brother gave him a John Steinbeck novel/short story, "Tortilla Flat" and Gord appreciated it. He then went on to say that he's really been into Sherwood Anderson, an author from Ohio who wrote during the Jack Kerouac era. All in all he was very friendly and was happy to chat. He was very mellow and soft spoken.
