Bigwig was originally suppose to play this show. they cancelled like a week before the show was to take place... so... District 4 headlined the show. The show started at 7pm. At 6pm, I was leaving a wedding in Long Island, 6 hours away. I promised to take pictures of this show. I SPED the entire way up. Pretty stupid considering I was just finishing up probation for a ticket. I made good time though, 4 1/2 hours. I didn't even change, I wore my white shirt, tie and slacks, straight to the show.
I caught the end of the Loiterers set. I almost didn't recognize them. They sounded so different and much tighter. They sounded very good. Amazing how much they've changed. I will be looking forward to seeing them again. Apparently this was the first time they had their new tape on sale. A record release of sort. Copies are available at Subculture.
Next up was Tracer. I missed much of their set cause I was too busy taking pictures of Cropduster in the bathroom. Which was quite fun. I spend the rest of their set saying hello to all my friends coming in.
The Filthy Primates shows that with some practice that you can improve. Like the Loiterers, they sounds alot better. Their sound was cleaner and the songs were more structured. Phrank Martian of Fist Her Face 55 came on and joined them for a song.
District 4 is definitely a pleasure to have on stage. The punk trio hailing from Baltimore, wows the audiences every time they perform in Cortland. They have had a line-up change since their last show with the Pilfers last spring. Drew has departed and Antonio is fill in bass choirs now. The change wasn't even noticable. He fit right in.
The band ran most of their songs on their self released cd, Black Pants Crew. They played their fan favorite, "Did it Anyway," a song on constant rotation on WSUC. For an encore they played a cover of, "I'm a Believer," by the Monkees. It was a good night, no girlfriend to deal with (left her at home even thought she was suppose to be working the door), had some girl flirting with me, hung out with the band and drove people home.
