Entourage: Bill

Lesson one, never arrive to a show on time, because they never start on time. We arrived at 3:15 for the one o’clock show at the Basement and the first band just started. The show originally supposed to be at the Third Rail was moved last minute to the Basement for various reasons. Pandemomium, orignally to perform, cancelled.
As found out later, The Third Rail wanted to charge an extra 100 bucks cause to make up for not having the bar open. The band would was putting up the money, cancelled because they didn’t want to pay an extra hundred bucks.

Filthy Primates -A great improvement over their last appearance I saw them at the Basement when they opened for Ed. (Ed. where are you?) They have changed for the better, their sound was a lot more together.

District 4 -Reigning from Philly (or Maryland as Bill says Bill is right), the audience definitely liked this band, probably the best band of the afternoon. With a short, sweet set. Rocking out with a couple of covers, a bunch of originals. I was really impressed with them, check out their webpage on my link site.

Loiterers -Cleared the entire Basement in five songs. If you had just come in you might have thought it was the weather (it was pouring out), but this was not the case. I thought that people left and went outside to wait til they got off stage, but the the Loiters proceeded to torture and hurt people’s ears for the next 45 minutes. People left and never came back! A shame though, cause they missed the rest of the great bands that followed. I can see why they left though, I had contemplated killing myself.

Ultra Phli -First time catching this band, I was pleasantly surprised. Having heard mixed reviews about this group, but they seem to be the better of things I’ve heard. Kinda wished I didn’t wish their perform with Yolk a couple of weeks ago. It is also a shame that their set was plagued with technique difficulties (and the rest of the bands to follow), but the band persisted on and continued on to put on a great set.

Even Odd -Hailing from Binghamton. They had recently lost(/fired) their lead singer. The guitarist Jim Anderson stepped in and has the chore of filling the position. In which case, he did a great job on lead vocals. They did a comical version of Skidrow’s “18 and Life”. Special guest,?? of the band ??, came up to join them for a cover of ??.
On a different note, someone also walked off with their bass (accidently/on purpose). If you have any info, please e-mail me.

Big Wheel -It sucks that they didn’t go on til 8pm, almost everyone had cut out. A decent band with a Deftones sound. When they define their sound a bit more, they will be rockin the house.
