As of this update (3-20-99), it would seem that Dayton just couldn't care less about live rockabilly shows. Maybe we're expecting too much too soon, but turnout at the few shows we've done lately has not been as we'd hoped. That's one reason our keyboardist just quit. as did our bassist the following day. Now I know why the Hip Shakin' Daddys play everywhere BUT Dayton. They tour all over Ohio in small burgs. I guess that's what we should be doing, but we don't have the representation they do. Anyway, this is quite discouraging for the rest of us remaining, but we've agreed to try to continue with a new bass player, stand-up, if we can find one, we're taking auditions now (see E-mail add. on title page).

I've put a lot of time, work, cassette tapes and computer paper into keeping the band and the rehearsals organized. I don't consider it wasted, really...we've had a lot of fun with it and produced a small amount of tangible enjoyment for me to listen to in my waning years! By then, everyone who knew what Rockabilly music was and really enjoyed it will have died off, anyway. We made our small splash locally, so I guess I can't complain too much. Long live old-time rock 'n' roll!!

NEW UPDATE...
5-26-99...We have a booking for next month, an outdoor festival in East Dayton, our set is ready, but we need to hire a bassist! (Story of our life!! Here we go again!!) Taking auditions now for electric or upright players. We also have a booking in Sept. at an Eagles hall, and we're out trying to round up more gigs in hopes of having a bassist hired soon. Please help us! Kevin recently bought a new red Squier strat and he's dyin' to show it off on stage! We would even look at lead guitar players who would like to join us. Sax players and keyboardists also welcome to audition. Later on we intend to expand with a 3-girl vocal backing group. ANYONE interested in any of the positions mentioned, please get in touch with us ASAP: by e-mail add. on title page, Rockabilly Central message board, phone me @ (937)253-5766 or Kevin @ (937)252-6350 or his cellular 1-937-604-4387 or his pager 940-1081(+your number), or at our Guestbook. Help us get good rockabilly & roots rocknroll in Dayton and beyond!(I guess this plea sounds desperate, but I s'pose that's what it's come down to in this *&%$#@ town!!) Hope to hear from somebody soon....
