Chapter 8: Reasons of Fate
Alanis ran down the streets. Sweat and tears ran down her face in rivers. She had to get to Zac's house, and fast.
"Zac?" Alanis said when she opened the door to the Hanson's home. "Hey!" Zac said jumping from around the corner. His brown eyes held pain behind his goofy grin. "What's the matter Zac?" Alanis asked with a touch of concern in her voice. Zac smiled then laughed. "Ike got real pissed at me and gave me a good shiner" he said. Alanis laughed. The peculiar visit from Sam was on the tip of Alanis's tongue but she tried her best to keep it away from the conversation. "Where's Taylor?" Alanis asked later.
"He's around here somewhere," Zac said pushing the swing. Alanis smiled.
"What was your mother like before she met your father?" Zac asked. Alanis smiled. "She had the most wonderful smile and she was always cheerful and bright. She was beautiful like the models from magazines. She was so nice" Alanis sighed. "When did she leave?" "When I was about nine. She always said she would come back and get me but she hasn't yet" "Do you think she will?" "I don't know" The two were silent after that. Zac continued to push the swing.
"There is a boy who will follow you if you do. And he will get hurt because of it. And his loved ones will hurt. This blonde haired blue eyed boy will follow you. He will seek you out. But in the end you will have neither the boy nor justice of the problems for which you seek help."
Alanis gasped as she remembered the words of Sam. "Zac, what's Taylor's real name?" she asked. "Jordan Taylor, why?" "No reason" Alanis replied.
Alanis wiped away her tears so she could see. Alanis could read the gravestones: Jordan Taylor; Clarke Isaac Hanson: brothers until the end of time. They'll be with you in your dreams. "Is Isaac's name Clarke?" "Yeah, it is"
Alanis read the gravestone of the missing brother again: Jordan Taylor. That name was what made the vision seem so deep so hollow and sad. Alanis fell to her knees as the tears began to flow. The names of the brothers made Alanis sad to her extreme.
Alanis bit her lip to keep back tears of realization. She found the meaning of the dream now. Now she had to solve the riddles.
The other brother just disappeared. Alanis couldn't see what had happened to him. He just vanished.
Tears stung her eyes as she remembered. She had to protect Taylor and push his fate aside.
