New Members

The ranks of the WSH flock have swelled again with the recruiment of not one but TWO new members joining the fold.

First to join was Lee Henderson, a session keyboardist they found hanging around the session rooms they were practicing new riffs in. His recruitment is a mystery, as to whether it's until recording is finished (they need the keyboard parts done), or if he's a full-time Steak.

The second recruiment is more of a coup, Erik Reich, a German club DJ now residing in the UK, to project 'soundscapes'. He was found in club doing a set by Sean and Ad, looking to get some promotion with copies of their cover of Poison, liked what they were seeing from Erik, and gave him a contact number and a copy. he next week they received a number of remixes and a confirmation of his allegiance to the cause.

Currently the new members are bedding in, although a low key gig was played in order to see if they could handle it, as well as air some material being worked on for the album.

Production will resume some time in Feburary.

MARCO QUITS!

Great, this is just FUCKING TYPICAL. Halfway through the recording sessions (album now under the working title Sadistic Torturing Behaviour) keyboardist Marco suddenly decides to quit WSH for no apparent reason.

The rest of the band were stunned at the news, but the future isn't as bleak as you'd think, with Sean taking over on programming for the remainder of the recording sessions, along with help from one of the studio engineers.

As soon as the recording is finished, a new keyboard player will be recruited, as there is already a shortlist of replacements being drawn up.

Meanwhile, the band seem to hold no grudge against Marco, and wish him well in the future.

First Track Done & Dusted

Work on the album has bourne fruit already. The intro to the album, 23/02/93, has just been finished after just 2 hours work.

The track was aired at their last gig, the title theme to The Shining (with additional scratching, dubs etc.) that accompanied their entrance. So that means that there is now officially 42 seconds of WSH material in public domain!

In other news, they're having problems in deciding the cover art.

The latest idea, a parody of The Blair Witch Project posters has been dropped due to potential legal problems, as did idea #1 of a collage of photos of the Waco compound. Typical...

No major in-studio bust ups as yet...

WSH Get Record Deal!!!

In a shock development, well, it is to them anyway, the lads have finally got their own record deal with UrBan Renewal. To add to the excitement, they've also been given an advance for their first album, which will be out by next spring (if all goes well).

Upon hearing the news, the lads were obviously jubilant, after all, gigging their asses off for 2 years and producing a huge pile of demos isn't exactly cheap, the relief quite evident on to all who were present. Or, as Sean put it, 'About fuckin' time...'.

Then they proceeded to get disturbingly drunk, safe in the knowledge that further piss ups will be on the label tab!

The only other details are that the album will probably be titled Finally..., and there's going to be a mix of the old material that we all know and love, as well as some of the new stuff previewed a couple of months ago. These are good times, no?

For total enthusiasts, the label is also home to Windex (who got 'em the deal, apparently), Deftones wannabes Chi, some bloke doing his own industrial thing going by the name of I Stand Alone and your typical 3-chord wonder 'punk' bands, Citrus and Butter. No site as yet, though.
