Live After Death was Iron Maiden's first full production live record. Recorded on the World Slavery Tour,at a sold out four night show, on March 14th, to the 17th, 1984 at the Long Beach Arena, in Orange County, California. The band played to over 50,000 Maiden hungry fans each night. It would go on to be one of the most elaborate, and greatest sounding live records of all time. Giving the fans more bang for the buck, the band packaged a double live record, with a corresponding tour book, and tons of tour pictures to please any Maiden fan. Unfortunately this package was only the LP version. The cassette & CD were not as elaborate as the L.P. They were missing the 4th side of the album which was recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon, in the. U.K. Until recently, Maiden reissued the missing live songs from on CD. Also released with the live record was an elaborate live home video! This video is one of the best produced live performances that can be seen and heard. Singles to come off Live After Death were, Phantom Of The Opera, and Running Free. The band donated all proceeds from the Running free single to the Anti-Heroin Foundation. Band line up at the time was, Bruce Dickinson (vocals), Dave Murray (guitar), Adrian Smith (guitar), Steve Harris (bass), and Nicko McBrain (drums). One of us here at Sanctuary was at the first and last night of this absolutely incredible four night stint. It was unforgettable, too say the least !!
