She sprang out of bed
Her face drenched in sweat,
Sheets stuck to her thighs.
Chasing her mind were
Deranged horses and snakes while
Skeletons and graveyards
Resided behind her eyes.
She grasped a 90-watt light bulb chain and yanked
As goblins traced her steps.
"Mommy? Daddy? Help me, please!"
She scrambled on the bed and a
Pair of unfamiliar arms reached out.
A skeleton smoothed back her curls
And reassured her,
"Don't worry. It was just a dream."
