Chapter 1

Jen glanced at her best friends, Bonnie and Kate, in exhaustion. They had been listening to Mr. Green preach for the past half hour. Does he ever shut up, Jen mouthed to Bonnie. Bonnie giggled and pointed to Kate, who was beginning to doze off. Jen quickly scribbled a not to Kate and threw it at her when Mr. Green's back was turned. The paper ball hit Kate on the arm and she shot Jen an annoyed look. Kate unballed the note and silently read, Wake up! You know what Mr. Green will do if he catches you sleeping. Kate nodded at Jen and sat up.

Fifteen minutes later, the bell rang and Jen, Kate, and Bonnie scooped up their books and walked out of the classroom.

"Can you believe he gave us an essay that is due Monday?" Kate exclaimed.

"No," Jen and Bonnie said together and laughed.

"Well, we know we won't get any work done tonight," Bonnie said as she pushed her long, black hair off her shoulder.

"That was such a great idea for you to have that party," Kate said as the girls reached their lockers.

"Especially since my parents are gone for the weekend," Jen said as her hazel eyes lit up. "You are staying the night, aren't you?" she asked as she fumbled with her combination lock.

"Yes," Kate said, "but I need you to stop by my house so I can pick up my bag."

"No problem," Jen said as she dumped her books in her locker.

"Who all is coming again?" Bonnie asked.

Jen shut her locker, leaned against it, and said, "Isaac, Taylor and Amanda, Zac and Ally, Kristal, Katrina, Amber, Emma, Caroline, Diana, Cassy, Tasha, Gwen, Jennifer, Paris, Jessica, Chrissy, Kandy, Nathan, Steve, Adam, Jerry, Matt, and Chris. I think that's all."

"That's only 25 people," Bonnie laughed.

"Twenty-eight including us," Kate pointed out.

"You guys are going to have to help me move the furniture from the living room to the den," Jen said.

"Sure," Kate said.

"How many are staying the night?" Bonnie asked.

"All of the girls."

"Your parents would kill you if they found out," Kate said.

"I know," Jen said and smiled. Jen glanced at her best friends as they dug around in their lockers. They were so different. Bonnie was quiet and self-motivated while Kate was outgoing and opionated. Kate prefered flares and baby tee's while Bonnie liked long skirts and long sleeves. Even though they were so different, Bonnie and Kate were pretty good friends. Jen smiled at her friends and said, "Come on, guys, we're the last ones here."

"I'm done," Kate and Bonnie said together as they shut their lockers.

The three girls walked out of school and down the first three white steps when Jen stopped. "Isn't he gorgeous?" she asked as she glanced down at Isaac. He was leaning against his car and was talking to his best friends, Kristal and Katrina. Taylor and Amanda were talking to Amber and Emma, and Zac and Ally were talking to Caroline and Diana.

Isaac glanced up and waved at Jen. Jen, Kate, and Bonnie made their way down the rest of the stairs.

"Hi," Jen said as she quickly kissed Isaac.

"Hey," Isaac said as he put his arms around her.

"Hey, guys," Jen said.

"Hey," the group answered.

"Are we still on for the party tonight?" Zac asked.

"Of course," Jen answered.

"My parents said I could stay over, Jen," Ally said.

"Hey, how come the guys can't stay over?" Zac asked.

"Yeah, how come?" Isaac asked as he pulled Jen against him.

"Cause," Jen giggled.

"Cause girls rule!" Caroline burst out.

"Yeah," the other girls chimed in.

"Hey, Jen," Chrissy said, "can you run me to the mall before the party?"

"Sure," Jen said. "Chrissy, I love that outfit." Out of the group, Chrissy dressed the best. She was wearing a soft pink fuzzy sweater with a light pink skirt to match it. The light pink emphasized her tan that Jen was jealous of.

"Come on," Jen said to Kate, Bonnie, and Chrissy. "If we're going to hit the mall, we need to be heading out."

"OK," the girls answered.

"I will see you later," Jen said to Isaac and kissed his nose.

As the girls were walking to Jen's car, Jerry yelled out," Hey, Kate, can I have fries with that shake?"

Kate turned around and glared at Jerry. Jessica said, "Jerry, the only shakes you need to be concerned with are the ones from McDonald's!"

"I guess she told you," Taylor laughed.

"Power to the smart @$$," Kate said. The girls reached Jen's car, threw their stuff in the back, and hopped in.
