25/11/04 - "PLEASED TO MEAT YOU" EP coming soon - Acrimonious Anguish will be recording the follow up to the masterpiece that was "Beat Your Meat For Metal" this December. The working title is "Pleased to Meat You", continuing the meat theme from "Beat Your Meat..." It will comprise of several tales of lust, meat and death told in the most METAL way possible. Have a look on the message board for more details.

15/11/04 - Acrimonious Anguish back on stage for Christmas? - It's been a while but it is looking like there will be a gig or two in December. It is pretty hard to get everyone in the band together nowadays with Louis living in Manchester and me at university, but hopefully the meaty might of Acrimonious Anguish will be "coming in your ears" once again in the not so near future. There might even be a new CD, you'll just have to wait and see.

18/08/04 - Nexus photos sets 2 and 3 - Sam Hunter's fine camerawork from the Nexus gig can be seen on the photos page now along with another new set of Nexus pics (I can't remember who took them, could have been Gander...) and the existing shots by Mike Greenbank.

10/08/04 - Nexus photos part 1 - You can now see the first of three sets of photos taken from the gig at Nexus last week. Go to the photos section and click on live photos to see them. "Oh yeah that's where it's at..."

10/08/04 - "Beat Your Meat For Metal" reviewed on Papscene - Local music website papscene.com now features an exceedingly good review of our latest release "Beat Your Meat For Metal". Go take a look for yourselves, if you haven't already got the CD this will persuade you for sure. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

27/06/04 - ACRIMONIOUS ANGUISH LIVE @ NEXUS THURSDAY 5th AUGUST - To celebrate the release of the new EP "Beat Your Meat For Metal", Acrimonious Anguish will be playing at the gayest of all Kendal's nightclubs, Nexus on Thursday 5th August. Also on the bill are headliners 5000BC (complete with new line-up) and support act Plastic War Machine, Louis' other band from Manchester. Entry only £2!

07/06/04 - New "JK" T-shirts - To celebrate the release of the new CD. We are getting a t-shirt made up (finally). You should recognise the face in the photo. If you don't then I'll give you a clue: we have a song about him. All in the best possible taste...

04/06/04 - BYMFM finally finished - That's right, all the songs for "Beat Your Meat For Metal" are done, recorded, mixed, fucking finished at last!. We've been promising a new CD for about a year and now we can "deliver the goods" so to speak. The sound quality is good considering it was done on an absolute piece of shit 4-track which is on its last legs. You can get your hands on the meat yourself for the more than generous price of £4. The tracklisting has changed yet again, so take a look at the discography page to see what you're in for. The mp3 of "Rabbit" has been removed from the site now so if you want it you'll have to buy it. I have however placed three clips from the CD on the downloads page in low-quality .wav format as a "taster".

21/04/04 - Rabbit mp3 available to download - I have uploaded a clip of the new
version of Rabbit on mp3 for y'all to download. Visit the downloads page to hear it for yourself, you lucky bastards. There's also a few new photos from the Rugby Club gig on the photos page.

19/04/04 - BEAT YOUR MEAT FOR METAL! - After months of promising you all a new Acrimonious Anguish CD, I can now reveal that it will be here in a few weeks time! A quite hilarious new version of "Rabbit" has already been recorded and mixed and will be on this site as soon as possible for download! We've changed the name of the E.P. - it will now be called "Beat Your Meat For Metal" (expect the T-shirts to follow soon after, ha ha ha...). The artwork has been changed as well. This is the first of two E.P's we will be releasing before summer. It will showcase our more "metal" songs (i.e. Steel Avenger, Rabbit, Everlasting Sorrow), the second will concentrate on the more "emotional" numbers such as "Together As One Tonight". More news as and when it happens!

01/04/04 - Rugby Club photos - Photos from last Friday's gig (there's more to come) can be found in t
he photos section. Click the link on the navigation bar to the left to have a look, a touch, and a feel... Also visit www.papscene.cjb.net to read a very nice review (cheers Dave!).

01/04/04 - Back with a vengeance! - Last Friday's comeback gig at the rugby club was a massive success. Our first gig in six months and we sounded f**king awesome! I couldn't believe the crowd response, it was overwhelming. Unfortunately, our gigs have a tendency to go wrong in some way or another, someone always has to try to ruin it for us, and there was no change here. After three songs, the sound guy turned off the PA and we were told "that's it". Well that wasn't it, we finished our set despite the lack of vocals and it was highly enjoyable. It's about time some people learnt that you don't f**k us around. Acrimonious Anguish are back - worship us like the gods of metal we are. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16/03/04 - Acrimonious Anguish play Kendal Rugby Club on 26th March! - Well, as promised we are returning in style, at the Rugby Club no less. Squiff has kindly added us to the line-up on Friday the 26th of March currently featuring Synko, Call Of Duty, Tauntra and Big Green Blue. As the only metal band of the night it's going to be an "experience" to say the least. Come along and show your support for true f**king heavy metal!

08/03/04 - Reunion show on the cards - Thanks to some persuasion off Louis, we've decided to get back together for a gig sometime soon. Hopefully this will lead to more gigs and maybe the demo CD will get finished now we've found some motivation. I've missed the band and I think the rest of us feel the same so it will be good to get back in the saddle. Just in the process of finding someone with a free slot for us sometime soon. Anyone who wants us to play, email me at truemetalmaster@mightylengthofsteel.cjb.net. In the meantime we're going to sort the singing cos it's the one thing that let us down before. Hopefully this will make a big difference (as will our return to a three guitar line-up, oh yeah!). ACRIMONIOUS ANGUISH ARE BACK AND IT'S ABOUT FUCKING TIME!

Click to enlarge08/02/04 - Valentine's Day gig at the Phoenix - Many people have been asking me whether Acrimonious Anguish are playing at the Phoenix on Saturday or not. Well we're not but there's a treat in store for you if you head down there. For the past few months, i've been drumming for a new band and now we are ready to unleash a truly awesome progressive love metal 80s rock feast upon your ears. Sole Survivor is the name we've settled on and we're going to blow you all away! It starts at 8 so make sure you get down there for then cos we're on first.

26/01/04 - What's going on in the world of Acrimonious Anguish? -
Well hello there sailor. It's been a while but it's time for an update on the goings on in the band. First of all, we have no drummer. This doesn't help when you keep getting offered gigs which you can't play. If anyone thinks they have what it takes to fill the vacancy please get in touch with me by email (truemetalmaster@mightylengthofsteel.cjb.net). I'm looking for someone with a great sense of rhythm who can handle dodgy time signatures and double-bass. It helps if you like our sort of stuff as well but it isn't necessary.

If you were listening when you arrived at this site you would have noticed a new clip from the far-from-finished EP. I'm having trouble finding a suitable way of recording it, I can't afford to rent out a studio for a day and I don't have the resources myself so we're rather fecked unless I can get some time in Kendal College's studio. It shouldn't be that long until it is ready though, all the songs are there, in my head...

Finally, if you are missing our presence on the local circuit and you are as fed up as I am with the lack of original and/or good bands in the area, never fear because there's a new band on the scene who are going to give the legions of mediocre "look I can play guitar too" Kendal bands a right royal arse kicking. When we've got a name I'll let you know and fear it you shall. HA HA HA.

19/11/03 - A jolly little treat for you
- There are two clips of a demo of a song (i.e. not the finished version) off the new EP hidden (not very well) round this site. Make sure your speakers are turned up and have a browse to see if you can land upon the pirate's treasure. Nyarr!

12/11/03 - Studio report begins - Now that recording is underway for "A Heart Of Steel To Touch And Feel", you can track the progress of the recording on the new "Studio Report" section. This can be found by clicking on the banner at the bottom of the home page (click the logo above to return).

12/11/03 - Acrimonious Anguish site relaunch
- As you can see the site has been redesigned and relaunched with the artwork of the new demo in mind. I think it is very sophisticated and beautiful, reflecting the sound of the EP.

05/11/03 - Plans for new EP unveiled - We are booked into the studio next week to record our brand spanking new demo, "A Heart Of Steel To Touch And Feel". This fine piece of musical history will hopefully be completed in the space of a few weeks which should be enough time to polish the steel to ultimate perfection. There will be regular updates to the site tracking the progress of the recording. Click here for more info.

03/11/03 - AA and Dave Callaghan part company - We have to announce that Dave Callaghan will no longer be drumming for Acrimonious Anguish. A new drummer will be announced soon.

" EH "30/10/03 - Photos from the Preston gig - Well, well, how shit was the Charger gig? Very shit. I didn't expect anything less. Charger were a bunch of cocks and when we played no one was there so it was a pointless journey to Preston unless you count the Pizza which was very nice. Have a look in the Images section to see some snapshots of the night which I'm sure I will cherish forever and ever because it was so good.

13/10/03 - New demo to be recorded while we take a "break" - Tonight we will be playing our last gig for a while as I am very bored of doing gigs. It should be interesting as the line-up has had a bit of a re-shuffle. Sadly, Dave has injured his back so cannot appear with us. I am taking his place on drums so we have a kind of Dream Theater thing going on (guitar/keyboard/bass/drums). What will it sound like? Well your guess is as good as mine. Anyhow as I said we are taking a break after this so we can get a new demo recorded. This time it will have good a quality recording and will reflect the way we sound today (unlike the last demo which was just dirty to put it mildly). Expect lots of rabbits, eagles and countless reverences to that most fascinating of emotions - LOVE. It will be both the cheesiest, and the greatest thing you have ever heard in your life. You have been warned.

10/10/03 - New local music website & Charger gig goes ahead - Those of you who remember the days of Imprisoned Chimp "Records" (oh how I laugh...HA HA HA) will be pleased to know that there is finally a website that focuses on supporting Kendal bands. Up until now if you weren't from Barrow or Ulverston apparently you were shit and no one wanted to give you gigs cos you weren't "cool" enough. Well all this is set to change with the arrival of "Papscene". Go to the links page to check out this new website phenomenon. On another note, we will definitely be playing in Preston on Monday supporting Charger so if you can afford the train ticket to Preston then please come and show your support if you want to. Cheers.

24/09/03 - More gigs announced - If you happen to be in Preston next month then make sure you come and check out the goings on the pub scene on the 3rd and the 13th. On the 3rd of October we will be supporting Solitary at the Golden Cross. Solitary made a return to Kendal in July as Area 54's support act and the plans were set in motion back then but now it has been confirmed. On the 13th of October we will be supporting Charger, along with Sour Vein, Aped Bi Sapien and 5000BC. This event will take place at the Adelphi, which is near the University.

Sim at Dickie Doodles, 18th September 200324/09/03 - General update - I have photos from the latest Dickie Doodles gig, they are on the Images page if you care to look. If you don't care to look that's your fault. NO ONE CARES. Other news is I am now drumming in two other bands so you should be seeing a lot more GOOD music on the local pub/shithole "scene". Anyhow, I'm off to swab the deck cos i've been a scurvy seadog so i have, aarrrgh...

Click to enlarge 14/09/03 - Download a poster! - If you would like to help us advertise the gig on Thursday then please feel free to download a poster (complete with artwork by Mr. Simeon Musgreave!) and print a few off and stick them somewhere. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge.

31/08/03 - New date for Dickie Doodles gig - As you may have heard. The gig at Dickie Doodles was cancelled this week due to double booking. Never fear though because we shall return there on Thursday the 18th of September to perform all your favourite 80s hits and our usual set (plus a new song or two).

22/08/03 - Gig on Thursday!!!!!!!! - Come to Dickie Doodles on this Thursday the 28th of August for a night of true FUCKING metal and a heavy helping of 80s cheese. Dave got us this slot at last minute so we can't pass off an opportunity to do another gig regardless of whether all the covers are done and dusted to perfection or not. It'll sound alright anyhow. I expect a large attendance or blood will be spilled, YOUR BLOOD...

SPEARED THROUGH THE HEART WITH DEADLY STEEL19/08/03 - T-shirts available soon - Here's the provisional design for the shirts I will be having printed sometime soon (click to enlarge). I think you will agree that they are a must-have fashion item. Sizes available will be small, medium and large. If you would like one then speak to me in person, if not - fuck off.

Dave at IBIS, 12th July 200317/07/03 - More photos from Area 54 gig - Yes that's right, SHITLOADS. Also the band members page has been updated with new pictures and that. Go on, LOOK.

16/07/03 - Area 54 gig review & photos - I would like to thank everyone who came to the gig on Saturday, especially our friends and the bands. I didn't actually think this gig was going to go ahead at one point and the fact that when we arrived the whole scene was chaos didn't help liven my expectations. This all being down to the lack of organisation by the so-called "organiser" (no need to mention names as we all know who I'm talking about). Despite all this, every band played a flawless solid-quality set and everyone seemed to enjoy it. There is a full a review of this gig on the gigs page of all places (fancy that...) Go to the images page to see some photos of our performance, there's more to follow soon...

04/07/03 - The return of Sim
- That's right boys and girls, Sim Musgreave has rejoined the band, this time taking the role of keyboardist. This addition to our current four-piece line up will bring an entirely new sound to the band. I think we have proved we can manage to deliver the goods with just two guitarists but many of the songs I have written and recorded feature keyboards which up until now we have not been able to incorporate into our live performance. The new line-up will debut at the Area 54 gig on Saturday 12th July at the IBIS club, Kendal.
